So i have had the truck for a few weeks now and I can not figure out why i have a chime shortly after i start the truck!
the seat belt is buckled, there are no codes on the overhead, no lights on the dash, i have checked everything i can think of! to include the glove box to make sure it is closed.

the oil and crank case vent filter were changed 1000 miles ago and reset the overhead. it is just bugging me!

is it just a friendly reminder that I am driving an amazing truck?

it happens maybe 10 - 20 seconds after i start the truck sometimes after i put it in gear sometimes not.

all help is appreciated!

it is a 2008 2500 4wd 6.7 auto crew cab

One ding on start up, usually an oil change or air filter message will appear in the overhead for a few seconds and then go away. It took me awhile to figure it out in my 08.

Mine was doing same thing, finally i got out and walked around the truck, it was taillight out, fixed it and that fixed the chime, Monte

I have the same chime, but mine is completely random. Mine will chime gong down the road. Nothing stays on most of the time.

Sometimes I catch a check gages light, there has been a trans temp light, light out light as well.

All random, no rhyme or reason.

10 chimes going down road is computer telling you there is a issue with your injectors. You need to check it out or you risk melting down the motor.

Ive had a random chime a few times and it always ended up being a lamp out, the tail light bus and head light connectors can have an intermittent connection that will signal a lamp out even if the light are off and are very annoying to track down.

Mine did the same thing for the longest time before the lamp out light came on. Replaced both tail light bulbs and it fixed it.

Oddly my mystery chime was for the left front turn signal socket. Intermittent connection that new bulbs don't fix. Took a new socket.

Mine does it also, randomly. Always right after starting. One chime, and no warning lights with it. Has done it for the life of the truck. Lamp out indicator comes on when a bulb is out, low washer fluid light comes on when washer fluid is low. I don't sweat it.

ok So i found the source of the mystery chime... apparently my CEL does not come on. It looks like light bleeds over from the abs light at start up. I had an issue with running rough and and white smoke a week ago. I was able to get the truck home and finally had a chance to hook up the code reader. i had the turbo speed sensor code and according to the computer the CEL was lit, it was not.
