I read this recall online at my account with RAM. Where is this track bar frame bracket located? It appears it will be some time before the repair will be available and I would like to do a visual inspection before I use my vehicle, which is a 2013 Ram Truck3500 dually.

SUMMARY:
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ram 2500 trucks and 2013-2014 Ram 3500 trucks and cab chassis manufactured October 9, 2012, to July 29, 2014. The affected vehicles may have inadequate welds securing the front track bar frame brackets, which may result in the bracket components separating from the frame.
CONSEQUENCE:
If the bracket components separate from the frame, the vehicle may be more difficult to steer and control, increasing the risk of a crash.
REMEDY:
The remedy for this recall is still under development. The recall is expected to begin October 9, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R46.
NOTES:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Look in front in front of the drivers front wheel. It is behind the swap bar link on the frame rail. I walked at and looked!!!

SNOKING

When I put my VIN in the FCA Recall site a few weeks ago, R46 was not in there for my truck. I just did it again and now it's there. Lovely...

Mine needs R23, R36 and R46. It says on the site that they now have the parts for R36. I never got that notice in the mail, R23 came today. Soon as my camper comes off for the season I'll get with the dealer.

I just crawled under the truck to check the welds on the frame bracket for the track bar. All looks good, no cracks or separation. It looks like a pretty sturdy bracket to me. From what the recall says, if your bracket is still OK they will be adding some additional support brackets after they design them and ship them to the dealers. If the bracket has cracked welds or is separating, it looks like they will weld a whole new bracket to the frame. Meanwhile, I guess I better keep inspecting that bracket after every trip.

Here is a picture of my 2015. Appears they added an additional bracket. Snoking

The bracket on my 2014 3500, which was built in September 2013, does not look like the one that is broken. It does look exactly like the picture that was posted by SNOKING.

That additional upper piece is welded to a cross member that does not show in the picture. Maybe mine just needs inspection. They may not know the exact VIN where the extra bracket piece was added.

Edit: Just checked at the Cummins Forum and it's not the extra bracket that's the problem, it's the quality of the welds and they say there is no way to inspect the welds! So mine may still break!!!

Just went out and checked out my truck. It appears to have the same additional bracket welded in place, as Dieselnerd and SNOKING. The build date on my 2013 3500 is August 3, 2013. Didn't see any ugly and obvious issues with my unqualified visual inspection.

If you go to the Cummins Forum where that picture of the broken bracket came from, it's from a 3500 DRW with 2 wheel drive. The 4x4's all look like the picture SNOKING posted. If you go to that forum there are about 9 pages of posts about this subject. Very interesting to read. Makes me a little paranoid though...

Just click on the link below the bottom picture in post #4

Just finished reading the entire post and read about the R46 recall on 3 other sites. Looked at the pictures and all are of the same truck. Checked it all out on the federal website. The best I can find is 4 actual trucks that the track bar mounts have actually come loose. I have not been able to find any one or any vehicle that has actually had an accident. Has anybody found proof of an accident? This is no different than 4 wheeling with a Jeep Wrangler and the track bar mounts breaking off. It's the same design by the same people. Oh by the way my truck is included and I have climbed underneath and inspected it.

Do you have the extra brace that some of us posted pictures of? SNOKING

Would like to see a picture of a two weel drive that is not broken. The weld in the broken picture looks cold and it looks like it only goes less than half the distance of the overlap. It seems the extra braces are on the four wheel drive only. Can't tell penetration but at least the weld look's like it goes the entire length of the overlap.
