I'm coming to the conclusion that the grid heater cycling on my 07 5.9 may be impacting the fuel injectors. I've owned the truck for just over 3 years and only notice this during the grid heater cycling as it gets colder outside. Sometimes when the heater kicks in, the fuel injector "fishbites" or misses and it is very noticeable. It never happens without the grid heater cycling - ever. Since the new injectors were installed it has run smooth up until the glow plugs started cycling with cold weather.

I wouldn't be so concerned, but knowing that electrical gremlins and poor grounds can wreak havoc in many ways, I began to wonder if there may be a link to failed coils in the injectors and because I just replace all my injectors I would like to avoid a repeat.

I removed and cleaned the most obvious ground connections right after I got my truck but it is possible some could have been missed or maybe some are simply weak to begin with.
Are there specific grounds that need special attention to ensure proper power gets to the injectors or are there improvements to the grounds that should be made?

Don't overlook battery condition and positive cable problems.
Get a voltage reading at the ECM from a scanner with the heater cycling to make sure the ECM isn't browing out due to bad connections etc.

The truck is 8 yrs old, probably should replace all the battery cables and load test the batteries. Might be surprised what difference those 2 things can make.

Thanks for the replys.. although I checked the cables at the time I cleaned up the grounds, I'll do the voltage check when cycling occurs. Cables look like new with no external corrosion but I know problems can be hidden. I also replaced the batteries when I cleaned up the grounds (Sears Diehard Platinums) which was a big improvement. I may just build a set of new cables similar to what I did on an older diesel I had (2/0 welding cable w/HD & military grade clamps).

We were fighting issues with injectors and run quality on my sons 05 when he did that. Every cable clamp had corrosion internally and the hot cable on the drive side battery was totally trashed internally when we split it open. Solved the issues when we were done.
