Got the itch and stepped up. '12 Big Horn 2500 to '16 Laramie 2500. Had some injector issues with the '12, nearly lemon lawed it, and never felt comfortable after that....like I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. '12 missed the ball joint recall but had some popping that dealer could never feel/hear, so I popped smoke.

New '16 seems luxurious, hoping for much better fuel mileage with def and 3.42 vice 4.10. Have a tow behind bunkhouse at about 8K amd expect no difference in towing. Having clearance lights installed and all my accessories swapped over now should take delivery tomorrow. Got a strong deal at Airport CDJ in Orlando and am happy to pass my salesman info on to anyone looking in that area. I was in town at a conference when I bought and the service at and after the sale has been superb. Happy, happy.

Good for you lawdog. I went from a "12 Longhorn to a '15 Bighorn a couple months ago and am very happy. Mileage is much better as well as longer oil change interval. Also got the Aisin, although I can't tell a huge difference from the 68rfe. Really like the power folding mirrors and cargo bed camera.

At the dealer today to pick up the new ride. Ran into one snag I wanted to share. The Mag-hytech rear diff and 68re pans on my '12 will not transfer to the '16. Sway bar in the rear and cooler lines on transmission have moved and it wont fit even though it would bolt up and is the proper part #. A little bummed about that but what can you do. Also I took my bags off the '12 and dont think they are going to work on the '16 either with the new 5 link coil spring rear. Oh well....I may have some Air Lift 5000 bags with the internal rubber stops and a wireless controller and compressor to sell. '16 is rated to tow 17.2K...almost 3K more than the '12....I think it will handle my bumper pull 30' travel trailer just fine without the bags (roll eyes.)

I might be interested in the bags if you end up getting rid of them. Of course that is if they fit a 2105 3500 SRW!

At blush I think they should...the '15 3500 looks to still have leaf springs and the bags mount just inboard of the springs. The '16 2500 had rods connecting where the leaf springs were on my '12 and coils where the bags mounted. Looks like it will work, part #88295 for bags, LoadLifter 5000 ultimate, per the website, but please verify and PM me if you want to discuss more. I have compressor and wireless controller as well.

Although hard to wash, I still think the 18" Laramie wheels are the best looking ones. Where did the bug deflector come from? Does it effect how the windshield washers spray at freeway speeds?

Bug deflector was off the trade, name brand is "Stampede". Nothing special about it, that is just what they sold at the accessory shop. It works well, no issue changing washer fluid spray pattern.

Thanks our used 93 had a bug deflector when we bought and the washer strayed everywhere but on the windshield. I took it off after a few years and guest what strayed washing fluid right onto the windshield.
