How Many High Miles Dodges Diesel's do we have

Have a friend who just bought a 2016 F250 - yes I know, that is not something we would do! BTW, I looked under the hood and I was surprised as to how FULL it is. I pity anyone who had to work on that beast.

Meanwhile I am curious about how the Ford exhaust brake functions. Insights would be appreciated.

It's probably a variable vane unit just like the cummins and Duratrash. So the vanes close thus blocking the exhaust.

Well, truth be known I have disowned him. I just didn't want to say it in public but now you have forced me to fess up!

These things are my life! One just came in with a puddle of oil under it and all of the newest ones have a screaming lift pump or SCR pump. I can look into it and post.
2 tidbits on the ford 6.7.
1 it's a reverse flow engine. The exhaust and turbos are on the vee.
2 it has a water exchanger for an intercooler. Follow the piping and you'll see it goes to a box next to the left battery.
There's more amusement but I gotta stop here!

You are right Ozy! I pass by a local diesel shop often driving to my mother's and see F250s in there with the cab pulled up and off the frame. I am guessing that once it is off and up that sure makes stuff easy access though.

Looks like you got back to Switzerland. Did the truck make it back across the pond as well? You may have to take it to the Motorfahrzeugprufungstation to get it back in the country since it is now an Auslander!

I just looked my buddies 2016 over and it is waaaay tight under the hood. I feel for anyone who has to work on the latest ones. The older ones that Ozy referred to are perhaps easier since the cab is made to lift up in one piece. It eliminates many of us DIY's because we don't have the lifting equipment to handle them. Meanwhile, I was interested in the exhaust brake function since the turbo is in the middle and space is at a premium with that layout.

Yes, sadly we are home again, the truck too. Everything is fine except that we wanted to stay much longer then the 3 Months we are allowed to.
We come back, that's for sure.
You all here should be very happy to live in a country that has so much freedom to do what ever one want to.
Back home it seems to me that everything that makes fun is forbidden in Switzerland. Crap...

Ozy
