Does anyone know if there is a setting to turn on the factory alarm? When I use the fob to lock the truck the owners manual says it should set the alarm and a red light should blink. I see no light blinking. I have tested it and the alarm does not sound if I lock myself in the truck and attempt to get out without unlocking with the fob. I see the spot where the red light is supposed to blink under the speedo at about zero mph. It's a 2016 2500 without keyless entry and no push button start. TIA

To Arm The System The Vehicle Security Alarm will set when you use the powerdoorlocks, orusetheRemoteKeylessEntry(RKE) transmitter to lock the doors. After all the doors are locked and closed, the Vehicle Security Light in the instrument panel cluster will flash rapidly for about 16 seconds to indicate that the alarm is being set. After the alarm is set, the Vehicle Security Light will flash at a slower rate to indicate that the system is armed.

Yes that's what is supposed to happen, but I'm gettin nothin.

I was just out in the garage playing with mine. I see no flashing light anywhere on the dash or 8.4AN. So I put the drivers window down and locked the doors with the button on the handle. I then pulled up the lock knob and nothing. I then reach in and opened the door with the inside handle and got the alarm. It turn off the minute I stuck my hand in the door handle.

I did not get a text message or email that the alarm was tripped. Might not have been on long enough for that to happen.

We do have the drivers and passengers front windows tinted, so maybe I am missing a flashing light somewhere.

Truck knows if FOB is inside or outside the truck! Do the window down break in from outside!

Ok I will try that tonight when I get home. So do you think the truck knows the fob is in the truck? The system I have has remote start but the fob still has to be inserted into the hole and twisted (unlike your pushbutton start the sees and senses the fob on your person)

To Arm The System
Follow these steps to arm the Vehicle Security Alarm:
1. Remove the key from the ignition system (refer to
Starting Procedures in Starting And Operating for
further information).
• For vehicles equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go™,
make sure the vehicle ignition system is OFF.
• For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-NGo™,
make sure the vehicle ignition system is OFF
and the key is physically removed from the ignition.
2. Perform one of the following methods to lock the
vehicle:
• Push LOCK on the interior power door lock switch
with the driver and/or passenger door open.
• Push the LOCK button on the exterior Passive Entry
Door Handle with a valid Key Fob available in the
same exterior zone (refer to Keyless Enter- N-Go™
in Things To Know Before Starting Your Vehicle for
further information).
• Push the LOCK button on the Remote Keyless Entry
(RKE) transmitter.
3. If any doors are open, close them.
The Vehicle Security Alarm will set when you use the
power door locks, or use the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter to lock the doors. After all the doors are
locked and closed, the Vehicle Security Light, in the
instrument panel cluster, will flash rapidly for about 16
seconds to indicate that the alarm is being set. After the
alarm is set, the Vehicle Security Light will flash at a
slower rate to indicate that the system is armed.

Ok, had to look in the manual for where the security flashing light is located. It is a bit hard to see from out side the vehicle, especially with the tinted window that we had installed. I Did find it and it flashes like the manual indicates.

SLT Big Horn. ( I tried to update my sig but for some reason it didn't update)
Not sure the Security Alarm is on a Big Horn.....at least according to some window stickers I've reviewed online. I do, however, see it on Laramie trucks & higher. Do you have your window sticker???

Your truck probably only has the Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System....not the full blown alarm. The owner's manual covers options that may or may not be listed on YOUR truck.

Are we supposed to get a text or an email the alarm was tripped???

How do you set that up?

You have to set it up! However I can not find my way back to where I did that. Have you loaded the UConnect app on your smart phone? Snoking

Theft Alarm Notification
Notifies you via email or text message (SMS) when the vehicle’s
factory-installed theft alarm system has been set-off.
Description
The Theft Alarm notification feature notifies you via email or text message (SMS) when
the vehicle’s factory-installed theft alarm system has been set-off. You’ve probably seen
this before, a vehicle’s alarm goes off in a parking lot or out on the street, and the owner
is nowhere to be found. With Theft Alarm Notification your vehicle will alert you of the
situation.
Should you receive a notification that your theft alarm has been set-off, please react with
caution. There are a number of reasons why your alarm may have been triggered, one of
which could be that your vehicle was stolen. If so, please see the details of the Stolen
Vehicle Assistance service below.
How It Works
Theft Alarm Notification can send you an email or text message (SMS) should the alarm go
off. The following instructions will help you manage your notifications.
1) Log on to the Mopar Owner Connect website (moparownerconnect.com) using the
username and password you used when registering your Uconnect Access system.
o If you forgot your username or password, links are provided on the website to
help you retrieve them.
2) Once logged in you will find yourself on the Dashboard. Click on the Edit Profile
button in the upper-right corner of the page.
3) Click on the Notifications tab on the left side of the page.
4) If you have more than one vehicle with Uconnect Access, please select which
vehicle you want to manage notifications for using the drop down menu.
5) You can enter up to 5 mobile phone and/or email addresses to your notifications,
and you can customize which ones receive the types of messages.
6) You will receive a confirmation text message, asking to confirm and receive vehicle
notifications. If you are ok with this, reply to the text message saying “yes”
(message and data rates may apply, please see your mobile phone provider for
details). If you have questions, text “HELP” in your reply.
7) You’re all set. Should your theft alarm go off, a notification(s) will be sent to the
number(s) and/or email(s) you provided.

Yes I have my window sticker, would is say "alarm system" or some other term?

My "feeble" mind has somehow gained some recall on the "UConnect" topic.

We can't get activation in Canada! #%&@$

"Security Alarm"....under the Functional and Safety Features section on the left side of the window sticker, like this one :

No mine does not say that. I guess I don't have the feature. Do you think the dealer can "turn it on"? With all the bells and whistles this truck has Its hard to believe it doesn't have an alarm. It honks the horn and flashes the lights when you lock it. You would think it could be programmed to do the same if a door opens before the fob unlocks the door.

The alarm on the Big Horn is a $150 option. It is selected under options/interior.

"SECURITY ALARM
The Vehicle Security Alarm monitors the doors, liftgate and ignition switch for unauthorized operation. The horn will sound and the headlamps, parking lamps and/or turn signals will flash repeatedly for a predetermined amount of time, alerting you of unauthorized entry or operation. "

If does seem to come standard with the "Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System" listed under Standard Equipment, Functional/Saferty Features.

You might ask your dealer if it can just be turned on, or module added and enabled. Probably will cost a lot more than the $150 factory option.
