First, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas...Especially our service members here and overseas... Thank You.
Bought a 15 2500 Tradesman,4x4 in Sept. It had the smallest tires on it I had ever seen from a dealership. The truck was dealer owned and it had 5800 miles on it when I bought it. The rear tires were about half gone so the first thing was a trip to the tire shop at 6500. Now I know going from a 245 to a 305 with different wheel is going to effect mileage and it did, about a MPG. It went from 19.1 to 18.2 ( hand figured not computer ) . We made a trip to Vegas for the SEMA show, 70 MPH and 1K of miles and still getting 18.1. Got back from SEMA and it was due for its first oil change, so into the dealership it went( got a great price on 12 oil changes). They said the had to flash my computer(airbag update). I ask if it would effect anything else , they said no. Ever since then I can barely squeeze 16 MPG out of it. It also shifts a little funny. I realize that 16 isn't a bad number, but 18 would be better. I consulted the dealership and they told me there was nothing they could/would do about it. Fine, after The first of the year its off to Cummins and get the factory settings reset. Has anyone else had a similar problem ? Now you dealership guys, don't start harping on me,I'm not blaming you. This is not my first go around with it . My 04 and 05 had the same things happen, and I realize that your just doing whats told of you. Any other suggestions, and please don't take me wrong, I love the truck as I do all of my Dodges. Thanks

Winter fuel could be effecting your mileage. However not sure that Superior gets that. I have heard that it has been cold this winter in Az. Ask you fuel dealer if they switched to winter fuel and when. We will be in Gold Canyon for Jan-Mar.

You do know that the tire size change effected your speedometer calibration? You are going faster and farther then what the truck now indicates unless you had your dealer adjust the calibration for tire size. SNOKING

No one I know can go backwards on the software. It is also unlikely any flash would have affected the mileage, especially by 10%.

Here is what the only flash for your truck includes.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
A small number of customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)
illumination. Upon further investigation a technician may find one of more of the following
Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) set in the PCM memory.
• **P205E - (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) Reductant Tank Temperature Sensor Circuit
Intermittent (setting when the block heater is plugged in).
• U110E - Lost Ambient Temperature Message.
• P20E8 - (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) Reductant Pressure Too Low.**
• P2281 - Air Leak Between MAF And Throttle Body.
• P1477 - Intake Air Diverter Valve Position Sensor Circuit Shorted To Ground.
• U1421 - Implausible Ignition Key Off Time Received.
• P026B - Injection Timing Performance.
NUMBER: 18-041-15 REV. A
GROUP: Vehicle Performance
DATE: November 07, 2015
In addition to addressing the above DTCs, the following powertrain system
improvements/enhancements are also included in this software release.
• **SCR Efficiency scan tool test improvement.**
• 68RFE Transmission Shift Quality Improvements for low speed First to Neutral and
Neutral to First (Garage Shifts).
• Charging system improvements for single alternator applications (Changes the
cutout threshold from 600 to 500 RPM).
• Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) system calibration improvement during Stationary
Regeneration.
• Cold idle speed stability improvement.
• Charging system improvements for dual alternator applications.
• Torque increase to 865 ft/lbs (D2 vehicles equipped with the Aisin transmission
sales code DF2 only).
• Fuel Filter Minder calibration changes.
• wiTECH Fuel Pressure Override and Fuel System Run Up test improvements.

"Torque Increase to 865"!!!!! Really? Would this apply to 2014's as well I wonder? I have no idea what my sales code would be.

sag2, What flash number is this? I just had a few done and I'm curious as to if this was one of them.

Based on your signature----you don't need to know the sales code.

"Torque increase to 865 ft/lbs (D2 vehicles equipped with the Aisin transmission

Sag2 , Thanks for all the info. The dealership told me it was a Airbag Flash, I don't see any reference to that in the info. Snoking, I don't believe we get winter fuel in the valley. 90% of the time I fill up in A.J. Thanks for the replies and information

I have learned not to trust the mpg calculations on the truck.

In Canada, the calculation is liters per 100kms. I realized that idling, the thing registers at full 99 liters per 100kms. It registered 3/10 of a litre while I was at a stop light idling!

On my FCA US LLC INVOICE under BODY & EQUIP mine says "DF2 AISIN HD 6 - Spd Auto Transmission 2,546.00" I don't see anything mentioning D2. My truck was built early Feb this year.

Is it possible mine needs the power increase update????
