My water pump went bad a long ways from home had to keep driving it because no parts no tools no money finally got home but now the alternator is losing charge pretty sure it's just soaked in antifreeze what would be a good way to clean antifreeze out of the alternator ?

If it were mine I would spray a mild detergent, (something like Simple Green) into the alternator, mainly the rear as that is where the brushes and diodes are, let it soak a few minutes then hit it with the water hose. After washing, air blow it out and see if that does the trick. bg

Might also want to consider whether the water pump bearing failed enough to cause the serpentine belt to slip too much and not turn the alternator pulley enough to maintain a charge.

Had not thought of that but that might actually be what's happening

The alternator charges then drops down a little then goes back up I bought some of this to clean it
