new to the site not sure if this is were to post this, but i have a 2005 3500 ram 5.9 diesel, and it failed on the misfire and components monitors not ready, i changed the batteries 200 miles ago and the monitors are still not ready , do i need to get them flashed? im in california, thanks

There may be a flash for your truck, but before I got too excited I would give it a little more time to run the monitors. It usually takes a few cold start warm up's and driving under specific conditions. The DRBIII has a screen to tell you when you are in the correct parameters for the monitor to run, but without it getting them to run can be frustrating.

We had one guy on the forum that had the same issues he finally had to go to a referee to get it signed off. Chrysler set me a letter (I have 04.5) that gave me lifetime warranty on the ECU for this very reason. Get me your email and ill send you a copy . You can message me through the forum.

It might need the K08 emissions reflash. Mine needed it in order to smog two years ago.
I went ahead and had the dealer smog it after the reflash.

The first 2 monitors are ready almost immediatly, the missfire monitor takes a bit of driving.Just this year they cracked down on how many monitors need to be ready to pass smog

When did California start plugging into these trucks? NY is still doing opacity. Was this a trade off to get away from opacity? I didn't think these vehicles even had any reference to OBDII. I don't ever recall seeing it on any label. I know the DTC structure was used, and the connector was there, but I never knew the monitors were read.
I do know that heavy trucks went to OBDII with 2014 emissions and got away from the traditional round dx connector to the OBDII connector and revamped the diagnostic system.

California smelled a dime and since we are going to save the world from warming plus pay for moonbeam's chu-chu to nowhere, we play the smog game. I just went through the first one with the hook-up, what a costly joke.
