Anybody out there with a 2nd gen truck have pictures of their front mounted hitch. I just want to see where the hitch receiver sits in relation to the bumper or bumper valance. I'm mainly interested in the Drawtite, Curt and Hidden hitch, but would be interested to see what ever you have.

Also, has anybody with a DSS installed a curt front hitch and how did it fit.
Thanks.

I don't have a picture handy, but if you check out Curt's website they have instructions and a video. The video is of a '95, but the part # fits your 2001.5 as well. I didn't remove the air dam/spoiler (or whatever they call them). Just cut out a small section.

If your main concern is interference with the DSS, you have nothing to worry about. I have the Curt and the BD DSS and there is absolutely no interference between the 2 components.

Thanks for that info. The hitch sits lower than I thought it would, in fact the install video shows it clearing the bottom of the spoiler. Did you have to do any drilling on the frame. I think my DSS is the solid steel version, not sure if it is any different than the BD version.

I just went out and had a look. It's been 5 years and my memory isn't that great. I did not drill and install the centre bolt. The main reason for the Curt installation was to have a location for winching for when I get stuck again. I'll find out how it works next time I get stuck. I've used it a few times to position trailers a short distance and have never had a problem. I'll install the centre bolts if I ever feel I need the additional securement, but so far so good.

As far as the DSS goes, I don't believe there is much difference if any between the Solid Steel and BD as far as installation.

I just got a new computer and haven't figured out how to attach pictures yet.

I believe the guy in the video left the spoiler off. The hitch sits slightly below the licence plate.

Thanks CRodi for the picture, just what I was looking for to see where the Curt hitch sits. Your right about guy leaving the spoiler off in the install video, didn't notice it before. You said you left the center bolt out on your '97, another guy said that the rear bolt didn't line up on his '01. I'd like to hear from more people with a Curt installed on an '01 to see if this is how they all are.
