Hello I was wondering if anyone is using Super Semi Pulling Truck engines ? I'm a big fan of the M 35 / M 44 deuce and a half , as well as the M 809 / M 923 5 ton military trucks. I think that an engine made for a Super Semi Pulling Truck would make an excellent upgrade for these trucks. Thanks in advance for any thoughts, opinions, and answers.

To my ( limited ) knowledge the engines used in the super semi class of pulling trucks put out well over 2000 horsepower

Yes Mikey-KE7LBB that's along the lines of exactly what I was talking about I've even heard of or seen a super semi truck with around 4,000 - 5,000 Horsepower engine. I just can't remember which engine or engine maker it had. Thanks in advance for any additional thoughts, opinions, or answers.

Just brought my baby home today... 1991 Pete 362

I would like to do something similar. She's got a CAT 3406B in her now, but I'd love to have a KTA19 instead!!

Hello I know that I will sound completely ridiculous but I was wanting / planning on putting one of theses engines in a bobbed M 809 or M 44 crew cab truck with a eaton ultrashift transmission, atlas 2 speed transfer case, CITS, with 4.90 gears instead of the 6.72 factory Rockwell gears, and slightly taller wheels/tires. What does everyone think ? Thanks in advance for any thoughts, opinions, or answers.

The 5 ton chassis may be able to fit a slightly larger engine since they already have a 14l under the hood. I think a big cam Cummins would do the trick and can be built for high HP. As far as a KTA, I don't think there would be enough room. I have never seen one up close, but I have seen a C-18 Cat engine on a work-over rig and it is massive!!

I would love to restore it and make it into a show truck. The guy I bought it from wants it back, so I may just sell it to him instead.

I hope you can follow through on that one or another. Been to a few ATCA Shows and such. Nice stuff. One day there will be a class 8 truck in my collection. I like the odd stuff myself.

I was mainly looking for an engine with the best: dependability/reliability, torque, horsepower, and fuel mileage/efficiency as I was planning on making a large hot rod pickup truck out of either the 5 ton or the 2.5 ton and maybe making it into my daily driver. Thanks in advance for any thoughts, opinions, and answers.

Actually it seems as though I could even possibly shoehorn in a 12v-71 Detroit Diesel (gotta love that 2-stroke sound) and with the change in gear ratio and the ultrashift eaton I nay even be able to have the same relative mpg as some of the newer heavy duty pickups from Chevy/GMC, Ford, and Dodge sorry to the duramax, power-stroke, and cummins fans out there but I've always liked the sound of the old 2-stroke Detroit Diesels.

Although the Cummins K is not too often seen anymore, 6 years ago at the ATHS show in Pleasanton CA I saw 7 in attendance. Here's one of the ones I saw in a Pete COE.

That's big- but not THAT big. What's the displacement of a typical K?
The K series was 19L (now called a QSK) per today's numbers. It was the largest OTR truck available from the factory at 1,150 Cu In. I've seen a 16V92 Detriot Diesel in a trucking company owners truck, it was Mr Werner's show truck obviously not OEM.
