2017 2500 vs 3500 or is it worth waiting for the 2018?

So two more questions,

1. I loaded up a Laramie and Longhorn and the price is significantly less for the Laramie, whats missing. I see the 20inch wheels but after adding all the options on the Laramie I wonder what is missing of significance
2. Should I go 18 vs 20 inch wheels, I usually run a little bigger tire, went 285 vs 265 on my current 2003 Ram and noticed the difference relative to gearing. I wonder if I should stay with Aisin lower stock rear diff or go to 4.10?

If you have the option of 18" or 20" wheels you must be going for a 2500 or a SRW 3500. Your only ratio is 3.42. You'll have to get a DRW, which are only available with 17" wheels, to have the option of a different gear ratio.

Post back on what happens. I guess if they were going to allow the option to choose the gear ratio again for the SRW trucks they would do it with the new model year.

Some of the cost difference might be in the seats. On a Laramie, they are 'leather trimmed' (which I believe is only the part in the center of the seat is leather, the outsides are vinyl). On a Longhorn, the seats are all leather (FCA calls it 'premium' leather).

The QUALITY of the LongHorn and Limited leather is far nicer than the other models.

Thanks for all the info. Still cant figure our the 6K difference between a limited and Laramie with all the options other than the 20 inch wheels. Need to research my favorite tire to see if it comes in 20in. I cant find a 2017 build list, dealer says they cant print one off but they can order? Dodge chat site cant help, doesn't know when site will be updated with 2017 build on line. Wonder if there is a difference and why they can order but not print build list??? Sounds very suspicious.

Dealer says they can put in rear air that is adjustable and also L to R adjustable for 1200 or so. I also hear that aisin will not be available in 2018? Should I be concerned?

I had a nice air bag system on my 11 HO Dually. I have the Factory system now on my 15. For $150 more I will stick with the factory!!!

Loaded or not truck looks the same even with 9,750# RAW.

I had a 2011 longhorn and now have a 16 limited, the leather in both are way above a laramie . Both were DRW. The 16 has 17 inch wheels and 4.10 rear. Of the 5 dodge trucks I have had this is the best for what I use it for. Slide in camper or 5th wheel. Also hauls the whole family very well.

I drove both the 2016 2500 4x4 and the 2016 3500 4x4 SRW. I couldn't tell a difference in the ride unloaded. Your results may vary. I ordered the 3500 and the Aisin.

Just keep in mind with the coil spring rear suspension on the 2500, you have a lot of extra wear items that will need to be replaced eventually. Control arms with bushings, track bar, etc. not sure if it's been discussed or not, but I wouldn't want one.

thanks everyone. My other question if I go with the 3500 is the air suspension. I have bags in my 03 2500 and enjoy them. Not as expensive as the air suspension route but what do you all think
