OK, first post so I'll try not to have a train wreck here, 2016 Ram 2500 SRW CTD Tradesman Auto, changed engine oil and filter at 14090, reset oil filter life with no issues, changed both water separating filter and main engine fuel filter with no joy on resetting. Pictures below of my Driver information screen, turn key to on run position, no engine run, press upper right button to reset, them confirm screen comes up, arrow down to yes and that's as far as I get. No combination of buttons will give me a confirm. I have searched the forms for fuel filter reset and have found a number of them, but none will work for me. I called my dealership and that was no help, I had a tech call from TDR and explained it to him and even he was stumped. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I even tried disconnecting the batteries with hopes of it resetting. Resetting fuel filter life shouldn't be this hard.

I just changed mine a month ago and if I remember correctly, to confirm the reset, you must push the 'down' arrow button. It is kind of a pain and somewhat counterintuitive to me!

I thought that I had tried that but I will certainly give it another try. This is driving me nuts to not be able to figure it out. Thanks for the response

They have changed it since 2013. Mine was/is easy to do. And, i don't remember being prompted with full sentences.

Well, well, well, 184 people have viewed my post and only 2 folks have offered advice, thank you to the 2 that have responded. Not sure if it was the way I posted or what, I would have been open to suggestions on how to properly post if someone would have offered. I will not be renewing my TDR membership when it expires. Thank you gentlemen!

You only have 3 posts and your judging our community of helpers? I'm not sure that's fair. Many of us who look at your post do not have a tradesman truck and can't help you from real world experience. Would you like me to research what your owners manual says about reseting your fuel filter minder? Other than that, what have you tried that the 2 who did respond suggested? Did that work? I have the tradesman. Couldn't help because his first screen is different than mine, therefore the programming in the 2013 must be different than the 2016 even though we both have the 3 inch screen. I don't remember so many specifics about it telling me the "engine must be off....."
Never had a problem resetting the 2013. But sounds like the 2016 is giving problems. If not too much trouble, research is in order

Also, the 2013 had a programming glitch in the fuel filter minder. It would signal filter change in 11,000-12,000 miles instead of 15k. More evidence that the 2013 is different

Almost daily I have people asking me to reset their reminders when I know they have not performed the required service. Those are the same ones that cry when they have failures .This gives me a bad taste about this type of post.

I'm with you Bob. I know you help us out here a lot more that we deserve. But the process must be covered some where. That is what we are looking for. Is it only in the service manual? I'm giving Mr. Spidysense the benefit of the doubt and assuming that he completed his 15K service as he says he did in his first post. Some of us are not very literate about how this electronic stuff works, me included. I'll search the 2016 owners manual again and see if I can find the words to execute the rest. If he failed to perform the service, its his warranty and resetting the instrument cluster will not change his warranty status.

Mr Spidy with an attitude.

This place is an excellent resource for help, unlike other websites that claim to have knowlegable folks this site does.

So, if someone reads and doesn't respond it is because they don't know the answer. On other sites, the folks there tend to have no clue and are eager to let others know that they know everything. Do I take offense at your post - yes - because I CARE about the TDR and the "family" here. I have received a LOT of good info here. I received a free wiring harness. I received a very cheap, hard to find, part for my 1996 truck. I, in turn, have tried to help and send things to others.

Please feel free to go to those other sites and good luck finding truthful and helpful answers.

However, if you want to stay, that is fine just please leave the attitude you expressed in your 3rd post on those other sites. If you are willing to do that I'll say welcome aboard.

Now, I took the time to go to the Owners manuals I downloaded and find your answer. (You can download it from the Ram website. If you can't find that, I can post a link). If this is exactly what you tried, then I have no idea. I don't own a tradesman, but I took the time to help do some research.

Starting on page 31 of the 2016 Ram Diesel supplement:

Fuel Filter Life Reset
The cluster will display the “Service Fuel Filter” message
when the fuel filter maintenance life is less than 5%. To
check the remaining fuel filter life, go to the “Fuel Filter
Life” screen in the “Vehicle Info” menu. When this
message appears, dealers should replace both frame
mounted and engine mounted fuel filters.
NOTE: Use the steering wheel EVIC controls for the
following procedure(s)
Vehicles Equipped With Passive Entry
1. Without pressing the brake pedal, push the ENGINE
START/STOP button and cycle the ignition to the
ON/RUN position (do not start the engine.)

2. Push and release the DOWN arrow button to scroll
downward through the main menu to “Vehicle Info”.
3. Push and release the RIGHT arrow button to
access the ”Fuel Filter Life” screen.
4. Push and release the DOWN arrow button to select
“Reset”, then push and release the RIGHT arrow
button to select reset of the Fuel Filter Life to 100%.
5. Push and release the UP arrow button to exit the
EVIC screen.
Vehicles Not Equipped With Passive Entry
1. Without pressing the brake pedal, cycle the ignition to
the ON/RUN position (do not start the engine.)
NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the Fuel Filter indicator system did not
reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure.

I've read this thread as it has been updated 3-4 times, and the board software counts this. I don't have a system like yours so I can't offer any help......but I still read it.

See how this works? It's not like 184 separate people who knew how to help you read, then ignored your post.

Being new to this forum and the 2016 2500 6.7 crew cab tradesman. I have found it to be a better place to ask questions than most other forums. There is a lot of info on it and the archives. TDR and Geno's are a great resource In putting on the grille quick release kit I found that the info in the instructions for the 2016 I posted what I did and members made comments and Geno's tech contacted me about it. I have posted A number of things that I have found useful for the truck. Some received no comments, But the idea is to share about the the truck on a forum. I'm sorry you didn't find it to your liking. I would rather nobody answered at all than with a BS one.
Remember you don't need to subscribe to TDR to be a member of the forum!
I didn't answer because I haven't had to do it yet.

Well said DAN_69GTX. Thank you for researching the answer and providing it to everyone on the forum. This is what this forum is all about. Dodge Ram truck owners helping each other find, understand, and resolve issues both large and small with our trucks and having a little fun doing it.

For what its worth to everyone, I did follow the instructions in the owners manual, it didn't work. I wound up taking the vehicle back to the dealership and it required a reflash to correct the problem.

Dumb question #1
since I have A 3500 2016 tradesmen that will soon need this reset . What is passive entry?
i may figure this out shortly after pressing the post button

as always cheers

yep it's button start? Instead of key fob ?

passive entry (no key or fob button to unlock) goes along with keyless ignition, so you don't need a key in the dash to start your truck. push the brake and the truck starts. do not push the brake and it goes to accessory mode.
