This control module claims 20% fuel mileage improvements, 65 horsepower and roughly100 ft lb. of torque..it plugs into the fuel rail with no other modifications.. it changes the torque curve..will not effect warranty..$530..it sounds too good to be true..anybody know about this??

No, they claim " up to 10-20% " That way when you get no improvement you have no complaint. All they're doing is jacking up rail pressure. It's the same crude tactic the earliest power boxes used on the first 5.9 common rail motors.

Don't bite. Lots of snake oil out there.

A friend of mine recently bought a '97 12V that had a "tuner" on it. I looked it up online and found that they claimed increased power and fuel economy. It was wired into the intake air temp sensor.........

I was under the impression 12v were all mechanical. Timing, injectors, turbos I know can up the horsepower.

You are correct about the 12V. That's my point. Somewhere in that trucks past, one of the owners was sold this snake oil "enhancer" for the 12V and was instructed to wire it into the intake air temp sensor like that was going to do something to increase HP and MPG's.

Somebody probably gave over $100 for a worthless box with wires coming out of it by some online company making unreasonable claims. I don't remember what the brand name was, but I did look it up and they are still in business selling the same exact box for practically any car or truck out there. There were also several BBB complaints and law suits against them.
