On my 2003 5.9 I've been getting P2149, P0204, P0205, P0206, I believe I have isolated it to the connector C1 that plugs into the ECM. I've searched but can't find any information on if the connector itself is repairable/can I put a new contact into the connector? Does any one know who makes the connector and if there is a tool available to remove the little copper/brass contact tube inside the connector out and replace it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Caleb

Yes, the connector and terminals are available from Cummins. As to the tool you'll probably be better off to buy a small set than the Cummins special tool.

Post up or PM me your ESN and I'll see if I can come up with the part numbers for you while I'm off this weekend.

In case you want to try and get parts today.....

Now the only thing I can not see is if your truck has the Deutcsh brand connector. It should have but some have a Packard / Delphi connector. Look your connector over really well before you begin.

The PN for the 60 way C1 connector repair kit is [h=3]05135640AA[/h]If you get the red plastic removal tool buy several as they get torn up pretty quickly. I also used to slit them with a razor blade down the split to make the diameter slightly smaller. If you can purchase individual wires for the 3 or 4 circuits from Cummins it will probably be cheaper.

I have looked at the connector but don't see any distinguishing markings to tell what brand it is. Is there an easy way to tell?

Is this a Cummins or Mopar Part number?

Thank you all for the information,
Caleb

Alright Caleb,

05135640AA is a MOPAR number.

Mike's part numbers are correct. If all you want are the terminals and not the connector, you will need Cummins 3164263. The tool part # is 3824815. You can find a more durable metal tool from most tool suppliers like Cornwell, Snap-on, etc. Just need the terminal for them to tell you which one you need.

If you need the connector, I show three different ones listed for your ESN, 4918670, 4919396, and 4919397. I'll PM Mike your ESN and maybe he can help determine which of those three you will need. He's way ahead of me on these Cummins parts.

Thanks Scott, I hope I don't need the whole connector but it would be great to have the part number just in case.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I would like to keep this tread alive; I'm having the same problem. I need to replace some female ECM connector contacts on my 04 Ram and I have already broken the red plastic tool. It seems that the insulation on the wire on the pin is too thick for the red tool. Mike indicated there is a 16-gauge tool, p/n 3822760. I would prefer to order a metal tool that will not break. Does anyone know of a tool part number that will work better than the plastic tools? I can't find any information on the Cummins Dodge Diesel site either.
Thanks in advance,

Working the part numbers in this thread the physical female socket appears to be a Deutsch pin 1062-20-0144, with the 44 being gold plated.

I found the 1062-20-01xx cut sheet, looks like a .076 diameter, I have a bunch of the snap-on, molex, amp, radio shack pin install and extractor kits, the generic ones I find dont work all that great, the molex and amp when used on the proper pin type seem to work the best.

So I think going with something listed as a Deutsch removal tool might be a better choice, I have had my snap-on kit 18 years so no clue what it was for at this point, it has maybe 5 different tools in the kit, it might be listed to be used with Deutsch.

Either way Amazon has some kits listed Deutsch, you could alwasy call Deutsch up and see if this is the correct pin and if those tools would work. Usually can ask for a application engineer if you look them up, the drawing says CA on it.

I bought both the red plastic Cummins tool and the same kit you are looking at, I had a hard time getting the connector out, but both tools work, just have to get it into the correct spot to release it, after the first one it was easy. The connector wasn't my problem, my ECM was bad. The kit I bought is part number SGT18550 at ToolTopia.com.
