Is it possible to always show gear on gauge display?

Does anyone know if it is possible to set the gauge cluster display to show the gear without having to push the "-" button on the gear selector lever after re-start? Truck is a 2016 3500 with Aisin and the Laramie trim. I just like to see what gear it is in.

I have not been able to figure a way. I also noticed that when I do have the gear displayed, after time passes on long trips it goes away too. Might be from going into and out of overdrive. If I catch the shifting before going into 6th, I only have to press the button once to show the gear selection. Otherwise when in 6th I have to press it twice to downshift. The only setting that stays on after shutting down is when I have a trailer attached, the exhaust brake stays activated. Now why wouldn't the other settings stay as you left them? I sure liked the button on the end of the stalk better for dropping out of overdrive. In the dark, it's harder to locate the button now. FCA. Are you listening?

Mine goes off whenever I shift To N or R or P. Doesn't matter if I shut it off or not. It would be nice for it to stay there. And the EB. I bet those guys that hacked into that Cherokee last year could set it up for us.

What did we do in the old days gone by? We checked the tac (if we had one) and the speed-o-meter and listened to motor whine /scream. The new ones are spoiling the owners with all the gadgets. Yes I'm envious.

Easy to keep the TH and EB on all the time: Just make up a RV trailer plug and wire in a small light bulb across to brake and ground pins. This will fool the truck into thinking you are hauling and keep the TH and EB switches where you leave them.

You sure it is not the opposite? (EB stays on, TH does not)

Maybe you are right. Either way, one has to take action each time even when towing. When check one on with a trailer connected and not the other.
