A twist on Dieselgate aka The VW disaster.

Trailer Wiring, Kenworth

Par for the course for these places. Idiots. No clue what there talking about. I guess they think gas engines don't produce any emissions. What I find rather funny (in a sad way), that newer direct inject gas engines produce more particulate emissions that previous technology. Now there moving toward gas particulate traps. So let's recap, regulators demand higher efficiency, etc, necessitating the need for computer controlled GDI. Leads to different type of emissions so new technology involving lower efficiency, cost, materials, maintenance, etc etc is needed. Awesome.

Some dude I know who thinks he's a doctor has a recent model 5 series BMW with auto start. There's a blatant warning on the op manual stating excessive use of stop start will incur internal engine wear and damage.

Yup. Especially using the light weight oil (recommended in most of these vehicles) that drains down to the sump in no time when hot.

I drove a 2016 F150 with the 2.7L Ecoboost last week. It was equipped with the Auto Start/Stop. I don't care for the feeling of that thing shutting down when you are stopped at an intersection. Now they claim that it is seamless. But, I could tell.

Was there an override on the auto start/stop? The few vehicles I have been in have all had them, but you have to hit the override button each time the vehicle is started.

I'm pretty sure that there was. But, since it wasn't mine, I didn't want to mess around looking through the menus.

My wife's new Infiniti (Q50 2.0t) has that junk. I hit the button every time I get in. Just don't trust it at all

I was reading a review of a loaded Subaru Outback and the author was frustrated by all the warning buzzers and bells. The auto braking that's coming out spooks me to some degree.

That semi truck is pretty cool. I've heard of Tesla's (Nikola) natural gas combustion engine powering a generator, powering electric drive before. Not zero emission but a much better use of "hybrid" technology. The truck referenced above is a step further out. But it isn't zero emission. That hydrogen has to come from somewhere. I assume - I know, correct me if I'm wrong - it comes from electrolysis of water which takes electricity and fossil fuel. I do believe the internal combustion engine will be a thing the past at some point, which is fine. It remains to be seen how that looks. But the current technology doesn't use logic, reason, value, dependability, cost, durability, etc as part of the analysis for electric locomotion. It is replaced by the liberal ideology of "I need to feel better about myself" technology. Eventually, the market will decide what works, it always does. Too bad feel goodism is getting in the way.
