2014 -2015 Chevy Cruze diesel

Buddies truck will crank and not fire. Happens randomly and with no other symptoms. I have a feeling it's fuel pump related but it always fires up once I'm on scene with a test light and volt meter to check for voltage at the pdc.

Any tips besides hooking up an led to the fuel pump fuse and make sure it always has power?

Installed an external fuel pump relay and problem is fixed......FYI for anyone with this problem on a gasoline Chrysler product as it applies to many models: get the fuel pump relay kit. It's an external kit from Chrysler that allows you to install a relay WITHOUT having to replace the TIPM/PDC....whatever you want to call it.

Unfortunately, some dealers won't sell the kit unless they install it....some liability BS but whatever, you can get it on the web for about 15.00.

Part number for the kit is CBP4P541AB and here is a link for the Durango recall.......supposedly Chrysler is avoiding a major TIPM failure by installing the kits.............after some reading, it appears that a lot of Chrysler's fleet is having the same symptoms but for whatever reason(s) they are aren't falling under recall status.

I didn't even know there was a Durango recall but I don't see a link. I'm going in Friday about my weeping radiator. I'll ask about it. I guess it makes sense. Pass the heavy current through a ext relay.
On a different note, in my new work location, were the exclusive Chevy Volt shop for the fleet. Seems that the engine harness wires are so undersized (effort to save weight) they are literally burning out like the old fuseable links did.
