I'm lucky since I never need to run on 50" limited trails
And in Georgia we can run public roads with only a valid driver's license and insurance due to a loop hole in our laws
My rzr 800 s is 64 1/2" wide so I would never fit between trail gates but I prefer the wide stance of my rzr
I've had atvs for many years and after switching to a sxs I'll never go back to atv

We can run secondary roads but it is illegal to run state routes and highways. That being said we are rural enough that you can run em just about anywhere without a problem as long as you use common sense.

I've got a 2012 Polaris rzr 800 s and ride it all the time even drive into town to shop at wallyworld mostly used for hunting I hunt deep woods a very swampy area so it's snorkeled with gorilla silverback tires

That's the problem here too, and why I'm reluctant to make the change from an ATV to a SXS. My cousin's Trail Cat (smaller version of TFucilli Wildcat posted above) is the max a side by side can aggressively trail ride around here. And it's much slower going for the most part.

Just depends on what you do.

Here's my stepfather with his Pioneer (similar as the OP) during archery in Wyoming in October.

We too can ride on roads here in East Tennessee that are posted 40 mph or less. Still need turn signals, windshield, side reflectors, lights, insurance and license. I don't ride on the road much, but it is nice to use the SXS to go down to the store or a friend's house instead of starting my CTD just to go 3 or 4 miles. Its also nice to be able to explore all the back roads here on the SXS.

Apologies to the OP, but it's time to walk around the barn. :)

Where about in E Tenn? I love it anywhere I've been around Dolly. We're you effected by the fires recently?

We had a lot of smoke (very dense at times) for almost a month on and off. There were a few fires 10-15 miles from us. Nothing like those poor folks over in Gatlinburg. We live outside of Roan Mountain about 5 miles. Or about 40 miles from Bristol Tn. This area is very ATV/Utv friendly. In fact when we go to a shin dig up here ( and we have a lot of them) most folks drive there SXS's there. Its pretty awesome.

Dasmoeturhead have you ever been to Windrock Park? Any good trail riding you can recommend to a tourist? :) We spend a week in West Virginia every year but always looking for new places to ride. We go after the technical stuff but appreciate the scenery (almost) as much.

Would that be along the I81/40 jct? Looks like lots of opportunities there!

Never been there, but I talked to some folks that had, and they like it.
In this area its mostly private, and you can't ride in the National Forest around these parts. There's some trails in the National park near Knoxville.
Hatfield and McCoy park in West Virgina .

I have a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500, Browning edition. Use it for hunting, plowing, and kicking around. My wife and I have been looking around at some side by side models. Initially I was thinking a two seater but the Teryx4 looks pretty nice and not huge. Getting info is like Cummins v Powerstroke v Duramax...every one is the best depending on who you talk to. I want one that is funner than a Mule but more useful than a Razr.

You should really look into the commanders, it has a dump bed, and still scoots right along. we take teh rear sway bar off for the articulation, and 1000cc gets it fast enough for us.
make sure it's a 14 or newer though. some issues with the older ones. 800cc is plenty and great MPG's as well.
the teryx is a good unit as well. just not a fast as the commanders.

The Commanders will also be on the "look at" list. It is my understanding that some, if not all, SxS's are top speed limited at the factory to pass certain regulations. Of course, those limits can be defeated. I don't know if I want or need to go faster than 50mph. Oh, who am I kidding? If a Razr had a good box we'd be doing 90!

I find that mine starts to feel a bit light above 50 mph. I'm no chicken BUT it just don't feel right.....:D

Mine has two ignition keys, one restricts and one does not. I've never had the restrictive one in the switch. They say that the dealer can re-program the restrictive key to non- restrictive so that you have a nice spare key....next time mine is anywhere near my dealer I'll have that done.
