Revive Turbo and Engine Cleaner

Isuzu swapped Ford F350

Its HP and TQ ratings are nearly identical to the MB diesel in my van. Should be amazing in many applications.

Rumor has it that Cummins is going to release it with some conversion wiring and potentially mounts also..........I really don't know how much stuff will be available directly from Cummins but time will tell.

A couple of weeks back another poster on here said he had a 4BT kit engine like this from Cummins back in the 80's and it reminded me of that...........Hopefully this will be successful.

I am glad to see Cummins get back in the repower business. In 1990 I did a 6BTA in my '74 Ford F-350 and Cummins supplied almost everything needed. The fan and any hub combo, alt., vacuum pump, air compressor, power steering pump, adapter for a bunch of different transmission combos, flywheel and stuff I have forgot. That was so long ago I am having trouble getting vacuum pump parts so I had to convert to electric. I just had to replace the fan and Cummins had 12 in stock, this one was built in November so they must use a bunch of them still. The small parts kit was by another supplier, I can't remember the exact name but it was like "tip canoe" or something similar.

Ok. Waitaminute. Nick, the pictures just posted are of the truck in your signature? And this was done with a Cummins kit? And you still have it from 1990? How old are these pictures?

Yes, yes and yes:) The pictures were taken in 1994 after I rebuilt the truck and had it painted. I bought it used in 1977, an ex oil field truck. I put it to work in the log woods hauling equipment, 13 years as a gasser and 7 as a diesel. It is 43 years old and will still tow the big loads. I am overhauling the vacuum system and cooling system as we post. Here are some more pics.

The pictures are in sequence of time, the last one is what it looks like today.

Not sure what you did to the pics, but they remind me of ones that are actually from the 1970's!! Old, faded, and full of good times...

Wow... I just realized that 1990 was a long time ago!!

Wow. I just wanted to get that straight. Long may she run!

Thanks for the interest, Wayne. Off highway it will still haul with the best of them and it does it with the little oem 1350 series rear u-joint:eek: Sometimes I ruffle feathers when I question the ability of the new store bought trucks:) I just haul local with it anymore, I prefer the comfort, power and ease of driving the '01, (6 gears v/s 15)

I love all the 70's pick ups. That one is special. If I saw that at a show I would be talking you crazy. You'd beg me to just leave :-laf
Getting OT and I apologize since that is a neat thing too.
Is it just the stance and perhaps hardware? Or are the older 350's a more capable truck than say a 2000 era 350/3500? What's the original GVW on it?
Shifting, aka hand shaking is a popular topic on you tube. Maybe you should post one showing how it's done on yours. No narration or anything, just point a phone between the seats.

No, I would probably tie you to the truck so I could show and tell you all the goodies:D

In general the older 350's were less capable than any of the newer trucks, they just get better all the time. This one is custom built so it is different. The drive train is heavy duty and all non stock. The only oem Ford stuff is the cab, frame and rear springs. The front axle is out of a 1976 Dodge motorhome, single I-beam with leaf springs, sway bar and even the gear box. If you notice in some of the pictures with the old twin I-beam coil spring front end, it was like a low rider, then some of the pictures it stands up. It is factory rated at 10k gvw.

The rear axle is a Dana 70 HD, rated 10K, the front is 5.5k. I even have a 5" spring brake on the rear with linkage that pulls the e-brake cables, when I pull up and stop and set the air brake, I get some funny looks:) I would guess that in 1990 I was the only small truck with an exhaust brake. If you notice in the engine picture the Pac brake is large, it is a 5" off a big truck, they didn't have small ones for pickups at that time.

I spent 20 years in the log woods with that truck hauling heavy, I would not want to use a new 4x2 Ram with the automatic transmission doing the same thing. The high 1st gear and unlocked converter would not be able to control a heavy load down the steep hills you encounter in the log woods. On the highway a different story, I would have to stay in the slow lane and let the new big trucks go by:-laf

Information I saw recently on this engine, they are using a Jeep as a test mule. Author of the brief article was extremely impressed and stated he had put his name on the waiting list. I'm guessing that with a new administration in the White House and talks of possible less stringent EPA regulations on exhaust that it could possibly postpone the predicted release date of this unit. That's just a guess though. I am too on the watch and wait list from Cummins, but didn't like what they told me about the mandatory emissions system that would come with the engine regardless of what it was going in.
