Has anyone use the Gates K080810HD Serpentine Belt .Just wanted to know if they like it or not. Starting on maintenance, pick up fleet guard oil filter LF16035 and fuel filter FS19598 and fuel heater/pre filter fleet guard. Going to ether use Delo 400 or rotella 15W40.

I work at a school bus garage that maintains @ 850 buses and @ 300 other vehicles. We us the Gates HD series belts almost exclusively with very few failures. I also run a Gates HD belt on my truck.

If you take the time to read the articles in past magazines you will find that oil brand means little. As long as it is for diesel engines and meets AFI spec there isn't any need to pay for premium name brands. You are only paying into their advertising budget. Just remember that diesel oil types start with a c (combustion) as in CJ-4. Gasser oils start with an s (spark).

Many serp belts squeak when the engine is shut off, otherwise they are just fine. I use Gatorback belts, mainly because thy don't give off that annoying squeak on shut down. I replace them every 100k miles.

I save the box the new belt came in & put the old one in it. Put the old one in the vehicle as a spare, you never know , it just might save you bacon.

Thanks, I inherited the truck from my dad it only has 113370 miles on it, needs a paint job , since it sat most of the time for 11 years. It was used a little each year, until my mom gave it to me. So going to do maintenance on it and use it on trips and going to work.

I've always used the Goodyear Gatorback belts but there's no reason not to use the Gates, it's been well proven.
That's a good looking truck. Where are you at in Wa? From the greenery I'd say the West side lol.

That's the one I'm currently running. Gatorback before this one. Both worked fine.
Spin each accessory that you can while the belt is off, this way you'll know where to look if it still squeaks.
Mine did this and it was the idler pulley assy.

Hello All. New member here as well and just picked up a 96 Ram 2500 yesterday. Congrats on the sweet ride, savage54! I'll be doing a lot of preliminary maintenance as well and already put in an order with Geno's. (another vote for the Gates belt)

First order of business will be the Killer Dowel Pin!

Nice ride MeanDean, How load is the truck with the exhaust exiting out in front of the tire?

The Banks intake will make your fuel filter changing more fun
