Watch out NYC & Atlantic City NJ

One for all ya Texan's

Please issue an all points bulletin for regular chocolate milk in the south west please.*:-laf:-laf:-laf Really, I'm serious, I miss my chocolate milk.*

I grew up surrounded by dairy farms and before the state put the kibosh to it, we used to dip a cup right in the mixing tank of ice cold raw milk. Man that was good.
*
When I was a kid we sometimes got milk from the neighbor who milked cows. *I also learned the hard way about how to tell when the milk went bad.... A mouthful of curdled milk/cottage cheese is akin to burning your finger on the stove - a life lesson for me!

The wife makes me drink the 2% stuff but when she goes out of town I splurge for the red cap whole milk!

My wife gave up on me the first year we were married, 28 years ago. I will not drink anything other than whole milk, in fact, the cheaper milk is partially skimmed, which allows more profit from cheese and other dairy products. My wife will only buy the brands I like, regardless of the price.*

Try Raw milk ALL others are Pale in comparison!!

Our Brown Swiss has one of the highest butter fat/protein ratio excellent for cheese making, when there's enough (Brown Swiss are known for High Yield) I like the Raw milk after Penny separates the creme. The top 1/2 gal after skimming is TOP SHELF MILK ICE COLD!!

Went and looked at the milk in the fridge this evening... it is red cap "Vitamin D" milk. Not 2% (dunno where that came from)
Our daughter has meds that make her not eat a lot, so the doc told us to give her whole milk. I make 2-4 glasses of milk n Hershey's a day here... it's our time to sit and chat before she wants nothing to do with me anymore. She's 11 now and that's not far off

Gee Big, is there anything you don't do on the Ranch/Farm/Back Forty? :D

RV not much!!

Penny has always been a Betty Crocker type personality. Her day is spent making breads & dairy products, soaps.

My part in this is giving her the most natural products to do this. We do buy grains im not able to grow wheat I just cant find the time & space when over 500 head of cattle calving. HA HA with respect to the milk I've been drinking raw milk for a long while. I dont think that if the company that use to produce raw milk is still around or if in California they would be able to sell it Alta dena Dairy. They did have a chocolate milk that I liked TruMoo.

I'll check with Alta Dena, I forgot about them, they are the last of the big dairies around here. The delvelopers have pretty much moved all the dairies out of SoCal.

Looked up Alta Dena, and behold, I have new hope. Now I've got to manage to lose weight and drink my favorite drink.

Thanks Big for the info.

THEY DON'T SELL RAW DO THEY?

WOW!! if they do thats weird we have a Amish Family as Friends in Shipshewana IN their group of friends were told to quit selling raw or risk fine/jail time.

My SIL before she sold her Café I was supplying her with Eggs, until some agency asked her if she was buying them from a certified egg producer. Now I have a dozen or so families that come and buy my eggs & extra milk. OH WAIT I GIVE IT TO THEM AS A GIFT!! That's legal that way. :-laf

Im way out of my area of expertise here. But when you say "raw" do you mean unpasturized ? If you do, we can buy it legally here in soviet washington. You can buy eggs "raw" as well. But maybe it is different if you are buying them for a restaurant.

Only the milk is called Raw as it comes from the cow!! We drink OURS ONLY, if handled incorrectly at the VERY LEAST your legs will go numb from sitting on the can for days, at the worst YOU CAN DIE. Eggs are from My chickens I have no idea why they would be any different from a commercial egg producer, Age is the biggest difference my eggs are often still warm when they're collected.

Penny suggested that I mention the Raw milk from her Alpine Goats. We don't drink their milk but we have plenty of people who drive quite a distance that do. Penny makes several different types of cheese from their milk.

Still not sure about your answer. We can go to a couple of places here locally and buy unpasturized milk. We dont because it is a lot easier to go to the local safeway, but we legally could if we want to. So is there a process that takes place besides pasturization that makes it "non-raw" ?

Rat I looked it up & your state is legal sales of AS IT COMES FROM THE COW Non Pasteurized "RAW" Montana either just passed a law or is in the process of making it legal also. Like I said WE WILL NOT DRINK OTHERS RAW MILK. Its not that anyone else cant do the samething as we do, its just that WE DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE.

Our entire family drinks OUR milk the Grandchildren really know nothing else, Zachary has processed Whole milk with his school lunch and said he doesn't like it. Along with Penny's Goats which are also used in Raw form she makes pretty much every kind of Dairy Product that you have in your fridge ONLY IN THE NATURAL RAW FORM. Ever try butter made from unpasturized RAW MILK? unfrigging real. Cottage cheese, sour cream for your baked potato, whipped cream for your pie, and my favorite ICE CREAM that makes Ben & Jerry's taste like it's ice milk.

If done wrong you will have a MAJOR CASE OF THE XXXX's

I generally start the milking on a portable machine when I do the chores, while im feeding the cattle Penny comes out and finishes up and takes it to the house.

Is it a pain in the xxx sometimes yes, but my Brother and his family are here visiting they are amazed how good everything tastes.

We try & raise as many anamials as we can so we DONT have the need to buy the processed stuff from the store, along with the garden we do pretty well.

Yup, when I was a kid I had several aunts and uncles who had farms where I spent a lot of time. Also, my great grandfather was a dairy farmer. He retired before I was born. But I spent an awful lot of time at his place where he did still keep a couple of cows, a couple sheep and a couple of goats.

Loose weight?

Easy burn more calories than you talk in.
That's pretty easy to do when you get up at 3 AM do the chores come in and workout for an hour on an Elliptical & weights, eat all the WRONG STUFF & go back out to work on something else that ALWAYS needs to be done.
