Hey guys, I'm helping a buddy this week install his edge cts2 attitude on his factory emissions equipped ram.

He is wanting to install the egt probe because he is being told it's required. We don't have the tools to install while manifold on truck and I feel he can wait until he gets to 100k and does the full deletes to install the egt probe.

Anyone see an issue with this? Can't you just monitor the temps post turbo with the edge?

I read this and then I had to re-read it, no need to worry about the warranty once installed. His warranty is toast anyway once the Edge CTS W/attitude is installed. The EGT post turbo is not the true EGT, however it's a good indicator if something is wrong. Running a programmed 6.7 should have the pre turbo EGT.

Please don't flame spray me and I'm not interested in an argument. This is simply FYI... according to my local dealer Service Manager the warranty isn't automatically toast if a tuner is attached. I asked last week during an oil change and lube when the tech had to get the manager to find the front axle lube point. Any who.... he said an examination of the ECM would determine the warranty status. Something about the number of times it's been zeroed. When I asked if he'd ever had RAM refuse warranty work due to a tuner he said, "nope, but lots of times due to deletes and such."

I don't know of a tuner mfr who doesn't recommend you remove the tuner before taking it to a dealer.

If it's a concern, don't do a tuner and leave the truck stock.

Although I'm leaving my truck stock until the warranty is gone, I will be ripping off every single piece of emission equipment after that. I welcome questions like this.

*We all modified the crap out of our 3rd gens, but got cold feet with the 4th gens; It's understandable though.

However, I'll be damned to fork over big money for a DPF filter or DEF system once my warranty is kaput. Hello delete city

In Comifornia it's expensive if caught, so that eliminates my chances of deletes. Some dealers are more tolerant than others, but if it comes to an expensive repair and needs approval, expect to pay out of pocket if a ECM was molested by any programer. I'm running EFILive but my warranty was up a couple of years now. The systems are too complex now for DIY repairs unless you have a little background with these trucks.

I wouldn't do it, if it was my money. Not judging anyone here, it's your property, money & choices.

Your local service manager doesn't have the authority to make warranty policy, what he can do is turn a blind eye.He has the power to bully his employees. The number of flashes is only one indicator.Running a programmer or box will only affect powertrain not all the systems.
The service mananger is not doing his job(lack of training)if a lube tech has to ask the manager where a lube point is.

If you have an power train related issue that calls into question whether your ECM is stock or not, you will lose. It will not matter what the service tech (or manager for that matter) said or did not say. They have lawyers that fight these things all day long. You choose to play, you choose to pay! Repeat after me " I am my own warranty station!" Any other approach is FRAUD!

What was your question? Lol

Id think with all of the factory gauges you'd be fine installing the Attitude. But, I'd monitor closely.

I've been around the diesel performance stuff for awhile, the long time mantra, "I am my own warranty station" is a good one. Have fun!
