I have some of the same complaints as the op......but none of those would make me jump ship to the worst truck on the market. I'll stick with Cummins.

I had many of the same concerns due to the 68rfe in my 14. It made me crazy up until it died. Stuck with the Cummins but with the Aisin in a 15 and have been issue free and much happier and it drives like i expect it should. I am not surprised to see a guy jump ship. I almost did here and did on two other brands. Once an issue gets under your skin you would rather stab yourself in the face with the pen than write the payment check on a subpar and chronically broken product.
But, do be careful as the new Duramax is all new and many are working through tuning, transmission, and turbo issues with most parts still on restriction. Some guys even have new trucks with under 1000 miles at the dealer with parts that they can not get yet. Go to that forum and study up. I went through trucks every six months to a year with major issues until i got this 15 that has been great. It is nice to just get in and go. One of my problem trucks was a 12 Duramax LML that was stuck in regen with egt # 2 stuck at 1832 degrees. Every mile was a 6-8 mpg deal unloaded. They would do a reset and the truck was great and at 17-18 mpg then it would just plummet over a tank of fuel and stick there at 6 mpg. Then the seal leaks in the axles and a cp4 prone to killing the injectors when it went. Also a bad hydroboost and a power steering pulley that was too narrow and shredded belts. The forum helped me get that fixed. GM had two pulleys of a different size with the same part number get out. After 20,000 i got out. The truck was never fixed and "performing as designed". The furthest it went between regens was 100 miles. My edge insight showed me when it was in regen but the dealer said i should not have that much information available. Then they blamed the insight on egt #4 being stuck. Another was a 13 Tundra that kept getting stuck in e85 mode when i never used the stuff. The alcohol counter never reset but just added the alcohol percent of a previous tank to the alcohol percent of the new tank until the truck would flood rather than start. That required me to add less than two gallons at a time. So drive 20-30 miles add two gallons and repeat. If i did not every tank it had to be towed to the dealer to have the counter reset which was every day or other day at most. In the opposite direction of my jobs. Then the cam towers leaked which meant the motor was mostly disassembled and everything attached had to be removed before the first oil change. So that lasted 17,000 miles. Then a 14 Ram with many issues that ended with two 68rfe trans on a totally stock truck at 14,700. So this 15 was the last shot before i just got an old beater and said forget anything new. You may be in a worse spot than you think.

I LOVE MY POS 2015... we bought the Laramie, AISIN, auto level, leather, in junkie black! I have a gas cap but it's plastic! I don't care about loud because this thing is quiet..maybe a truck is not for you.. The chebbie I'm sure you'll love... just can't tow anything with it..

I can agree with some of the reasons but I would be concerned about trading the known complaints for new ones that might be worse. My Laramie seats used to make the back of my legs hurt. I used to put my feet up on the seats and stand on them (as best I could, more like duck walking) to try to break them down and wear them in. Now they aren't so bad. Throttle response does stink. I haven't had to drive in morning and evening traffic much the past year but I did this week and whatever they changed in the recent flashes makes it really painful. If I let off the fuel, even when I started barely off idle (i.e. barely touching the pedal), there is a 1/2 to 1 second delay before it will accept throttle again. I am seriously considering a tuner, that is how much I HATE it. But it still isn't enough to drive me to a Duramax or Ford

I WILL agree with you, some business guys that I sometimes work for bought me a 16 Dodge, Ram, FIAT whatever you want to call the new POS these days to use on business. Left me stranded a few times ONCE TO MANY
What a Joke the new ones have become.

Been around the TDR forum since the beginning. This thread takes the cake for the saddest ever.
Hate to say it, but you guys are making the newer Fords I have at my job seem pretty ok.

Not sure what makes this the saddest ever. Please elaborate. I have occasionally thought about owning a Ford except for the Ford forums and all that can be found there. No thanks.

I dunno. It just started with a terrible rant, and just went down from there. Aside from one or two positive posts, it's just sad, and this dead pedal thing is bad. They better get a fix. The Fords don't do that. They scare you under the hood, but aside from that, they're putting on a good show. They definetly don't have a dead pedal type thing going on.

LOVE my 15, only complaint is the brake controller. I installed my MaxBrake from my 11, my braking is great.

Knocking on 36K so I will take my POS 15 to the dealer to have flashes done and the rubber shroud around the fan does not fit tight so I will have them replace that.

Thinking of getting a 19 RAM since this one has been such a POS.

Interesting thread. Just adding a few observations. The gentleman doesn't like his truck. OK. He bought something he likes better. OK. We like our Rams really OK. I agree, my thirteen year old Ram is still taking me where I want to go.

Thank you all on either side of this post for starting your opinions without a donnybrook. Please continue to do so. Andy

Trade in an I6 for a V8 diesel? Trade a powertrain with nearly 100 years of production for an engine produced by a company that has only made diesels for about 22 years (chevy/gm)? Hell Naw!

I have had a heck of a time with my truck. I have 46,600 miles on it currently. Since I bought it new off the lot in October of 2014, it has spent 31 days in the shop. It is a work truck, I'm a contractor, so it gets used hard as it should, but not abused. I have had a turbo fail, the transmission exploded and killed itself, and the SCR catalyst failed about 2 months before the the TSB came out for the recall to get the new SCR without the ammonia sensor. So had to go back in for that one. Plus all the the other recall campaigns, TPMS issues for the first year. Hopefully all the bugs are worked out now.

That said, Ford and GM also have major issues. I have learned that sometimes you just get a bad truck. A guy could have the same exact truck, and work the same as I do, and have ZERO problems with it ever. I think it has to do with what day of the your truck was made. Monday and Friday produced trucks probably have the most issues lol. But, chances are if you get a new Ram after having problems with one, law of averages should work in your favor and you should get a trouble free truck. It seems to me that if you get ****** at your current brand, and then switch, odds are higher you might end up with a problem truck from the new manufacturer.

IDK, all the new trucks have issues. They don't perform or last like the trucks of the past if you are using them like a work truck. They all have issues, they all will let you down. I think I'll stick with Cummins with a true inline Diesel, over switching brands to something that has as many or more issues.

Slight topic swerve...
Is it easy to substitute a different brake controller?

I was about to start a new tread about how much I love the 14 2500 i just bought from my dad. I sold my 06 Mega and loved it dearly...that was a tough sell but I have to say that the new-to- me 14 (32k miles) is a whole new experience! I don't LOVE adding DPF but it is the way of things now so I accept it. I hate the shifting and as soon as I am out of warranty, a programmer will be installed to remove some of the torque management (which I know is the cause of my shifting woes). My wife commented how much she likes driving my truck now versus the 06. The seats in this truck are light years better than my 06! Did I mention I love 800ft/lbs of torque stock? I grin every time I step on it for two reasons...landscape starts to blur and the shifting is great! I really do look forward to driving the truck. It is very solid and planted on the road.
I understand that everyone has their own opinion but I have enough history with these trucks to know that they are generally fantastically strong and reliable vehicles. Once in a while, there's a dud and you gotta find a way out of it. Any manufacturer will have that happen. After 4 Cummins since 03, I'll stick with em.
Rant duly noted!

If you can find a MaxBrake IMHO that would be best of people say the Tekonsha P3 works well it is a plug n play. MB requires tapping brake line.

Thanks. On my 05 1500 I plugged my Prodigy into an under dash connector. Are you saying the connector is there even with the factory controller?

This guy has been confrontational in earlier post! However in Oct 2016 he posted this.

"Upgrade! I have a '15 with 12,000 miles on it and it has been awesome. Best diesel I've ever had for towing, hands down. I am right at about 3,500 miles since refilling DEF and it is just now dipping below the 100% on the gauge. I think the guys that are having any issues at all are the grocery-getter guys. These trucks are not made to run one mile here, two miles there. They are made to be worked, and they need to get all the way up to temp when running. I have so many buddies that buy diesels because they are "cool", and they should really own gassers......."

I say bye bye! If he did not like the seats he most likely had a tradesman.

I guess this means you got all your problems fixed with your 2015, so you can now get back on the bandwagon

Bunch of whining ***** whipped complainers. My CTD has been the most reliable truck I've had yet, making me a living for over 10 years now. 1st Ram. Had 6 Ford's before this, they were basically shot after 7 years. When I don't like a truck, just dump it, no need to broadcast it like an medicated *****.
