I recently purchased the truck in my sig. It is bone stock with 22,000 miles. My last Ram did not have the Aisin trans, so I'm not familiar with how they operate. I have not towed with it yet, I notice that when pulling up to a stop light the trans downshifts into 1st at about 4-5 mph and it does so pretty abruptly. Just wondering if this is the nature of the beast? It acts the same in tow/haul or not. Thanks in advance. ***Edit*** For some reason I don't see my sig line, my truck is a 2013 2WD DRW.........

The Aisin has pretty low first and second gears. I believe it can also lockup in earlier gears than the 68rfe which allows the exhaust brake to work better and at lower speeds. You might be feeling the torque converter unlock and then perform the shift. On mine i do not feel much time between shifts where the transmission is slushy going into gear. Mine gets from one gear to the next and does not spend much time between shifts. Nice positive shifts much like my LML Allison. Much different than my past 14 68rfe which was slipping and trying to act like a toyota CVT and never knew what to do or which gear to be it until it consumed fifth and sixth and took out the torque converter and valve body.
Having said that my 14 68rfe which i had before this 15 with Aisin had the transmission fail twice before 14,700 miles. The truck was all stock. At the end it would slam shifts up or down and lock up the rear tires. If it is so harsh that the tires are locking up you may have an issue. But, if it is not doing that it is likely fine.

There is a TSB out for this.....have your dealer check your truck to see if it has been done.

The flash and a quick learn should take care of it. I fixed several with a pretty harsh downshift.

I wish 1st would only work when you actually have a load. Plenty of power to take off in 2nd. If I don't completely stop it will stay in 2nd and then shift to third around 20+.

I fix it on the other end!!!! Only use 6th when I need it!!!!! And that I have control over! Got to love the 3:42's and Aisin in the SRW trucks!

I use EB all the time but only use T/H when towing or lots of stop and go traffic....or slow driving (neighborhoods, dirt roads etc.) My daily commute is mostly highway, I don't find T/H that advantageous in that scenario (unloaded, highway).
