I'm not curtain what trans I have, but my question is,on transmission lock up (torque converter), is their anyway to adjust when the torque converter locks up? When out of overdrive it locks up around 40 mph, in overdrive it locks up around 50 mph. Here are pictures of my transmission.I think its a Stock 47re.

Yes, the '97 had the 47RE. I have my TC lock up on a dimmer switch in the floor. Full manual. Works great until I forget it's locked up and slow down for a stop....

I love that idea, I wish I would've done it to my 97. I think I've just always wished I had a manual trans that didn't think for me.

To the OP, yes as Scott already mentioned you have a 47RE. There is also a potentiometer method to adjust lockup (do some searches) if you don't want to have full manual control over lockup.

Is their any good threads on this site about how to do this? or do they sell kits for this? I've looked on you tube and google and a lot of them do not show how to do it from start to finish.
