Well, following advice here and other I tackled changing my CCV filter.
I just hit 65K(ish) miles, the weather was nice and the OL was in a good mood so why not, right?
I've watched several video's on this and love Motorcity Mechanic's videos but I digress.
I figured max 30 minutes to do this and the OL was shocked (she's my wrench monkey) that I had it apart, changed and back together before she could finish a cigarette. About 15 minutes total.
Something that surprised me was the lack of any drippy mess and I expected the old filter to significantly weigh more due to oil saturation.
It wasn't on either account. I take it this is a good thing?
I figure I'll gut the old filter and sometime on down the road use it for a fixture doing a CCV vent delete.
Being around equipment most of my life, this new stuff is interesting to say the least and trying to figure out what to delete, why to delete it and figuring a COB (Cheap Ol Ba$tard) way to delete is still somewhat of a mystery to me. I don't want to go full blown, dump everything, just want to "delete" what I don't need.
EGR is at the top of my list so that is where my research turns next but I've still got 35K miles of warranty left so read, read and read again.
Thanks to all for sharing their knowledge here. It's one hell of a group.
