I need help I’m at a tire place getting work done on my 3500 and they tell me the inner wheels are seized up and they can’t get them off anyone have this happen to them. And how did you solve the problem and keep it from happening again.

You can get under with a 2x4 stub, hammer and pound on the rim itself. Go all the way around it if necessary. Mine was stuck on my '07 once and it came right off. Same as a friend's when we took delivery of ours from Dave Smith.

Well 1 if a tire place couldn't get it off I don''t think me and a 2x4 could get it loose. 2 what the hell is BFH. I called the dealer to see what they could tell me was they would take the truck to Peoria Plaza Tire, and I let them know that THat was where I was at as I'm talking to them. I will most likely take it to a truck place that works on semi wheels. Thanks for all the answers both now and to come! Anybody know if the inner wheels are made of steel or aluminum. Because plaza tire says the problem is two different metals with the corrosion.

BFH = large hammer [emoji16]

The Ford Duallys are notorious for this.

Our tire dept. will loosen the rear wheel nuts and then swerve the truck back and forth around the lot to knock the rims loose. Pretty much an everyday occurrence with hub piloted rims on ton and ton and a half trucks...

On big rigs we have a puller to remove the stuck duals. Looks like a medieval contraption but it works well.....

They did do that with The rear wheels. Had the lug nuts loose and rolled the truck back and forth said the still wouldn't come loose. So I'm just going to take it somewhere else and have them try it. Thanks!

Gotta go slalom style, just whip the truck back and forth, figure 8’s, etc..sometimes it take 5 minutes or better of spirtited driving before they come free.

Vanna Whitewall is right there, too bad she could not have muscled the wheels lose.

East Peoria Firestone works with big and little trucks. Good luck Sir.

Back to the red hot topic. I know the issue is solved- for now, but I wonder if they put some anti seize on the hub? Doing figure 8's ain't happening on the shoulder of a highway.

Sorry, another detour...

I used to tell my kids that a BFH was a Big
Fancy Hammer. ;)

By the time kids are old enough to work on cars they deserve the truth.........

This was when they were little. I used to watch "Trucks" with Stacey David and he had a 2 lb. mallet that he'd painted "BFH" on each side. Every time he showed it they'd ask what it meant...

Now, back to your regularly scheduled thread topic.

I've had very good results by applying marine grease to the hubs and studs. My 2010 and 2015 duallys were stuck by the first tire rotation at 7k miles.

Galvanic action AlO2+FeO2= thermite( aluminum rust + iron rust and a heat sorce) in extremely small amounts.
The 2 mettels pass eletrons when in the presence of an electrolyte, salt/rain spray, anything short of distilled water . This is why a Zink anode on a boat as a sacrifice, we all like a sacrifice now and agen.
Sorry your number cam up with you droping the BFH bomb
To truly prevent this you need to insolate the 2 mettels. Maby some good ceramic or powder coating.not enough space for a plastic barrier. A good greece may slow down the problem but is a bandade on a bullet hole .
I see this as a move tord planned obsolescence. With this new desine fewer old parts laying around in useable condition if they all have a wheel stuck on it . This explains why so many Dulles go to the crusher with only the inners still on. I've wondered...
