Water Pump Recall

I'm at 84k miles on my 2013 an I'm sweating how much longer will it hold out. I hope this recall notice gets out into the system soon as I'm getting close to needing a coolant flush....

The 2013 & newer trucks are running OAT coolant good for 10 yr / 150k miles.

Flash,no you are not.On 11/09/2017 this T51 Recall,will begin sending recall notice's via the last known address you gave for that VIN number when you purchased the truck.If you have changed your address since purchase date you need to either call or go to your/or the nearest service dept and change your address.As a backstop to this is if you ever come to a FCA CDJR dealership it will appear on your VIN,no matter at that point who owns it,it will have it T51 done free of charge.If you sign up on Mopar's Owners website,it will show up there as well.Again 3 different service managers stated that it will do no good to change or assume you have the right pump because,no one knows yet what pump part number is good,Nothing against TDR,or Geno's because no one I know has gotten a advance copy of the T-51 Service Bullentin instructing the Cummin's Tech how to determine if one pump is OK and one is not because like all 3 service managers have said they have replaced both weep and vent.This failure of the pump is not related I believe to being vented or weep design,because if you look to the FCA US Engineer's,and Cummins engineer's they stated they put warranty replaced failed pumps on Cummins truck's and ran them till they caught fire.But no where does it stated weep or vented caught fire.It just says that they installed failed pumps were coolant was coming out the front of the nose of the pump,not out vent or weep.Also as Bob posted awhile back he stated untill we get the part number we won't know even if the ones in stock are good this is exactly what the 3 service managers stated.GSBrockman my service manager stated to just be aware of any growling noise's coming from the engine bay.And of course coolant temp because once it starts to climb and get hot in could sieze and throw the belt and now you are at the mercy of the trucks last direction you steered.No powersteering Wow,like if I hit someone at 70 miles per hour could get me in court for sure,wondering if FCA will send an attorney to defend me.So like my service manager said don't drive it unless you have too.So we were gonna go RV'ing with the 5th wheel but he said hold off,till I have T51 done.

I would in no way let this possible pump failure and or recall impact any rv trips i have planned. I am not going to avoid driving my truck. I am not going to turn down work because of fear of failure. The failure rate is low. So low i am not going to mess with it until i feel like it which could be years away. If ever. I am not worried at all about losing power steering. People were steering heavy vehicles decades before power steering was even invented. It is not like your steering wheel freezes in its last known position. And as long as you are moving forward you will be able to steer.

Somewhere in this thread I thought it said the end date for install of defective water pumps was in February xx, 2017. Is that not correct?

You should, I got mine at the end of July, didn't get it done until two weeks ago, wanted to let them practice for awhile on other trucks. that ,and wanted to put a few miles on it while I'm home, before heading south.

Hard to tell yet ,but it seems like I have lost a little on miles per gallon, but have only been running up ,and down the canyons fishing.

A few others have noticed the same. Additionally, a few others have noticed an increase in DEF consumption initially, but often returns to the same consumption levels after a period of time. Mine is not broke----I do not think I plan on doing anything with mine anytime soon.

Don’t be rushing to the dealer yet,they do not have the recall published yet.Only time will tell how good the parts availability will be early on

I’ll try to remember to come the accurate site for recalls and notify when it hits the dealers but we’ll see
