Fuel Door, new Fuel Caps or Change outs?

Hi. I really don't like the diesel phony fuel caps. I wonder if anybody ever put on an older model's filler necks in our trucks? Either that or put the locking aftermarket fuel doors on the truck. Do they go on nicely? The other option is the new caps made out of aluminum. The new caps seem minimally locked and could be opened without a key. I think a garden hose would fit right into the fuel neck and could cause troubles. Any opinions, Thanks, Herb

I prefer the aluminum cap from Geno's. It's great because it's oring sealed and has a magnet so you don't lose it while refueling. These trucks are probably not very easy to siphon fuel out of.........at least I couldn't ever get a hose down my tank.

I'm not worried about fuel being stolen as much as my front garden hose fitting in and putting water in my tanks(DEF or diesel) by teens screwing around at night.
At work we were getting fuel stolen all the time. So we all got locking caps. They then just cut the fuel hose just above the tank and siphoned it dry. The cap was fine! LOL

The locking doors don’t add much security either a quick pry and it’s open in seconds.I think motion detector security lights would be at least as secure.The new security cameras that will alert to your smart phone is another option.They are very easy to install and work well as long as you have a good WiFi signal

Locking Fuel cap 4th Generation..

Yep, moved hole up and to the right, bought old filler assembly, fuel filler hose, a couple of pieces of filler tubing (metal) , hose clamps, and a LOCKING FUEL CAP! A lot of cussing , a few pop rivets, and some contortionist activity later I can now fill my truck without making a mess, (further) destroying the wheel well trim, or dumping fuel on the ground through whatever would drain when high pressure fills didn't shut off fast enough. Just happened to get in the right spot where the lip on the cap covers the lip on the DEF fill so its' locked too..... Oh yeah, I did have to space the filler panel inboard 3/8 of an inch or so (small washers) so the "new" cap would let the door close in it's entirety.... My wife ALSO loves this, can top off on the road with NO MESS.....

Looks great! I’m ordering a locking fuel door that is supposed to fit diesels. Time will tell. I’ll take pictures if it works. If not, I’ll be copying your truck! Thanks!

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. I had issues with the locking cap at first not having a "real" key, but you can't get the lock off without the key Geno's sells, so I'm fine with it now.

I have one of those locking caps and like it, but... I'll bet as much as you want I can get it off with a pair of needle nose pliers if installed in a normal way.

is the new filler neck the same size as the Ecodiesel? Any idea what year the new neck came off? Did you buy from the dealer? Thanks again,Herb
