should I be concerned?

Is it true what I have seen some conversation about, that the 2018 built Cummins 6.7 will no longer have EGR and all the major emission controls will be in the exhaust only?
If this is the case, I will wait to order my new truck till December or January. Any information will be appreciated. Thanks!

It's been stated no EGR on here before, but until you see an official statement from Cummins I wouldn't count on it. And I certainly would be apprehensive about buying a first year technology no matter who designed it. The current gen emissions has proven to be pretty good considering where it was 5-6 years ago.

I was told by the horses mouth the 19's will have ZERO emissions on the engine for the 19 model year. New truck and 100 year anniversary for Cummins and 30 years for them and Chrysler to be joined = a big deal.

Modern motorcycles like Triumph for instance have been doing this for years...

????
I'm talking buying first year technology here. Honda is not excluded from making mistakes. I'm a big fan of their motorcycles and ATVs but overall maintenance costs on their vehicles have been somewhat disappointing at best in my experiences. And that's regarding small vehicles, not 9,000 pound GVW trucks.

Talk about comparing apples to orangutans :-laf

I'm interested in seeing the official word from Cummins. The EGR seems to be the most resilient of all the current emissions systems (excluding the Diesel Oxidation catalyst which has been around in one form or another for many years now). Even the venerable Landcruisers sold throughout the world now have EGR and are running reliably with that system in place.

The DPF and SCR, while much more reliable than in years past, seem more fragile and finicky by comparison. If Cummins were to introduce an engine that lacked an EGR, I'd assume it's because they have increased confidence in the reliability of the DPF and SCR.

Emissions standards for motorcycles are more forgiving than they are for autos. The rationale has been that they are such a small population of the vehicles on the road.

The 18's are on the lot and they are pretty much identical to the 13's up. It's hard to imagine not having an EGR but we can hope.

Not so sure about that, when side by sides have cat convertors............I love my no emission 2 strokes

Would that be 19 models out late 18?

20 models out late 19?

Late run of 18 models so 19 models in 19?

The horse I heard it from was 20 model in 19.

I was told it was for the 2019 model year. I ASSUME they would be released late next year. As I said 30 year anniversary and cummins being in existence is a BIG deal.

There is a couple of other threads on this. I speculate that what we a hearing about is the same tech as Iveco/FPT/Cummins - Euro V are using. This is the best info I have found:

Click the "learn more" under powerful/proven category and at about 5:10 in the video it explains the technology. Basically, it's SCR/DEF, DOC and something they call a CUC - clean up catalyst (?newer DPF). No EGR, no DPF. Also notice the engine cutaway picture has a overhead cam. So we might be seeing a 400ish hp, all after-treatment, efficient, clean, trucks in the near future. Finally, something to look forward to. May concern is what kind of body are they gonna wrap around it.
