About a month back I posted about a MIL (P0765) which led to Service bulliten 21-004-17 which stated replace solenoid pack, this is after my auto trans wouldn't downshift or uplift out of 4th gear from a dead stop or while moving. I was eventually able to get it to shift after much cusing and swearing at it while moving column shifter in and out of park, shutting eng down restarting it 3-4 times. And after getting the two recalls As some of you have (water pump, trans possibly slipping out of park) and NO PARTS AVAILBLE, I got the same story regarding the solenoid parts, NOT AVAILABLE  I sent an email to Chrysler customer service regarding my waining faith with Dodge Ram.
I received confirmation they received my email & stated someone would be in contact regarding my issue. Person that contacted me 2-3 days later stated they would investigate issue and find out why parts aren't available and try to expedite them. Approx 1 week later I got an email yesterday stating someone from dealership will contact me as dealership does have parts for me. Dealership called same day and set appointment for repair. I guess my question is why it took a letter to corporate to finally get some action:confused: because after talking to dealership it sounded like they had the parts! Now I wonder when water pump & trans issue will be resolved, maybe everyone needs to write corporate:rolleyes:

" maybe everyone needs to write corporate"

Yes, everyone should be screaming at Chrysler corporate. Since FCA has taken over, I've seen a ridiculous amount of poor customer service with regards to response times to complaints as well as parts availability problems for RECALLS! It's not getting better, even with large numbers of product being sold. You'd think instead of squandering all the cash they are making, they'd do something about their end of the warranty process. If this truck of mine (the 2016) didn't have a Cummins in it, I wouldn't be driving a Ram..............and I really have no complaints about the truck but it's widely known how many people drive Ram for the Cummins only and I'm one of them.

I also don't know if it's just my regional problem but our dealership service department has gone down hill.......and the hill wasn't that high to start with!

Agree if not for the Cummins I’d probably have a Chevy, had my 2016 Ram not been so new & I not spent mega $$. To bad they are going the wrong way, seems as if success is going to their heads and $$$ in their pockets not in parts or customer service

The simple answer for why dealers are going down hill is greed. You can’t retain good techs with the unfair pay plans..I took an early retirement partly due to broken promises. The tech hired to fill my shoes has virtually no diag skills. My apprentice that worked under me has far better skills but is paid much less.

Its now the American way. There is NO LOYALTY to that guy that worked his whole life for the company. As soon as they figure out they can get someone for less money that devoted employee is sent packing usually right before his pension is able to be cashed in. It sucks. And most of the New hires can't find their head from their ***. But the schools have given them a degree and they get the job over the guy that was self taught and learned the job from the ground up. Again it sucks.

It doesn't shock me at all with them. I have had a long run of problems with my 2014 and only having 46,000 miles on the truck I got pretty frustrated with them, seems like you get the run around on everything. The latest was my leaking rear pinon seal and was told by the dealer it may or may not be a warranty repair but had to wait 3 weeks to even get it in the shop. After complaining about all my issues then brought up my dead pedal issue with FCA they acted like they never heard about that problem and told me to ask the dealer about it. I called the dealer and they informed me that in fact Ram knows about the problem but the only fix is for me to buy my own after market tuner to fix the problem so it leaves me not having faith in any of them. My headlight switch just failed adding to the problem but was told I was on the hook for that. Wednesday my truck had a big squeal coming from the area of the water pump area not the belt so I decided contacted them again knowing about the recall. I am ok with having some problems but always getting the run around and terrible customer service I decided to leave the Ram family and dumped the truck. I too really liked the Cummins platform but had to question everything else. Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way.

Ram needs to properly reimburse their techs and especially work on quality control. The techs shouldn't be bogged down with issues that should have been caught on the assembly line.

I agree completely about rhe service. My first Ram was a '01 and it was the best truck i ever owned, not one single problem in 14 years. My present '15 hasnt been a problem except for all the recalls. Get a letter, call the dealership cant get in for three weeks, then they call back two days before appointment and say no parts available. Dont really care about the restaint recall or trans supposibly jumping outa gear but would like my water pump replaced. Planned a trip down the Alcan next month, but no way with a iffy water pump. Stranded in sub zero can get serious pretty quick. Anybody know where to get the correct waterpump..heck ill replace it myself.

Ram pays the dealer their retail rate for warranty repairs. Here in the bay area that is getting real close to $200 per hour. It's the dealer that is keeping the majority of the money, or is paying on flat rate to make more money. Ram has no control over their dealers business practices, and I know they would like to do more.
You are correct they could do more on quality control.

If your worried about the water pump just change it or have it changed. Ram will reimburse you as part of the recall.

This is the dealer's responsibility. Greed is the problem.... like Bob said

I agree with GBBrown - my 1st Ram was a 2001 2500 & a great truck. I drove her 9 yrs. Unfortunatly after getting rear ended four times I was over it. I still miss her (sniff, sniff) 5 speed manual. This new 2016 is the first auto transmission I have ever owned, Call me crazy but I really don't care for auto trans.

A good buddy that owns his own diesel shop tried to steer me away from Dodge when I was buying a new truck back in 2015, customer service was one of the reasons he was pushing me towards a D-Max. For a lot of other reasons I chose to stick with Dodge/Ram.......maybe he was right? This water pump issue is ridiculous. Provide the parts!!!

UPDATE: Went to Geno's page and looked up the part. On that page is some great info that will help you determine whether or not your wp needs to be replaced. Check it out!

LP5 and LML Motors have their share of know issue's. I would be a lot more careful on sources of info. V-8 diesels are considerably more costly in production , Maintenance and repairs.

I'd put my "source" up against anyone in the diesel world. There was a lot more to the conversation then the one line I wrote earlier! Lol If I had bought a D-Max, I wouldn't be posting here!
