04.5 5.9 Water Pump?

My truck has 96,000 miles with the "AE ratio (6.7) 6 speed stick. My truck is a December 21 2006 built, 2007, 5.9 and that is why it came with the 6.7 ratio, G-56. I just had my right knee replaced and my left is probably a year or two from having it replaced. I DON'T want a 48RE but want a 6 speed auto with the two over drive ratios, one for towing and one for cruising empty. I have looked to see if there is a stand alone transmission control that will interface with the ECM on my 5.9. I would like the Aisin but have heard that there is a conversion using the 2011 and later Allison 1000 6 speed. I would sell my G-56 set-up to off set the conversion. Anyone know who does the conversions or sells a kit?

Sorry to hear about the knees. Good luck on the swap, please keep us in the loop regarding your research, and the journey.

As an owner of a nearly identical '07 5.9L to yours, I can understand your desire to keep it as long as possible. However, value wise, you will be much better off to sell your '07 unmolested and pick up a new or newer automatic equipped truck.

Yeah but I do not want any of the emission junk headaches.

Have you seen this?

I don't have any experience with it. Just found it doing a quick search.

THANKS! The one issue that I want to change is that I want a high numeric, FIRST overdrive like the 68RFE, which is .82. Now, my OD or 6th on my G56 is .74 and I have the 3:73 axles. The .74 is a little too tall for towing my 5th wheel with the 285-75-17 Nitto Highway tires so I usually, if I am going on a long trip, put my stock wheels and tires back on. The first OD on the Allison is only a .71 which is taller than my 6th on my G-56. It would be too tall unless I go with more HP, about 400-425 at the crank. I watch to not pull too hard in 6th with my G-56.
Always Something!
Thanks guys for the links!!!

My October 2006 built '07 has the AD G56. That 0.79 6th is very deep with the 3.73's and stock tires on the highway. I don't pull very heavy often but I also try not to load it hard in 6th. My current travel trailer only weighs a little over 5000# loaded so I don't even worry about it most of the time.

The 68rfe has really nice ratios, I DON'T like my 48re every time I tow. 1st is too high, 3rd & OD are way to far apart...
Swapping in a 68rfe is just more then I can $, so a g56 is on my list. I always liked a manual for towing. Had a nv4500 in my 98.5
For work I run a 2015 KW PX9 with an Allison which works well. The TC locks in 2nd gear @ 15mph & 3rd on up shift/and lock at the same time.

On the open road and towing, the G-56 shines. We have cut down to two cars so the truck is my driver around town as well as the highway. I am also kicking around finding a small car for me. We bought a 2014 Lexus RX350 2wd and man that s a nice car in the city and on the road. Quiet, comfortable and a 3.5L, 265hp V6. That is for my wife for putting up with me for 40 years!

There was a company at Scheid diesel extravaganza that had Allison conversions for ford and dodge. I will try to find their info I know I got a card from him,he was from Florida. Thought it was around $8000 for everything including transmission.

Caconversions.com. I spoke with the owner a little while and he seemed to be knowledgeable. Offered five and six speed Allison options. I thought for the price as compared to upgrading a 48re transmission it was very feasible.

Do you recall if that was a stock Allison 1000 or if there were upgrades included to handle increased power? That's actually not a bad price all things considered.
