Truck Reluctant to move after sitting for 8 days.

After my 2002 2500 4x4 Ram with automatic transmission sat for 8 days I noticed that upon starting with no problem and placing in gear, I thought, the truck would not move. I revved the engine a bit and finally the truck moved forward. Do yo think I need to change the transmission fluid? Or is some worse solution in store? The ambient temperature was in the 50s.

Torque converter drain back is all part of the mopar way of doing business. Just put it in neutral instead of park for 20 seconds or so and let the TC fill before zooming off. If this brings to mind that it might be time for a transmission service, then "act accordingly". Happy Dodgin!

Might even be the pads starting to stick to the rotors.Left my 2010 sit for 2 weeks it didn't want to move till the brakes let go.

Mark31 is dead on. As long as the transmission is full of fluid I'd go with converter drainback as mentioned. Both of my trucks have done it and I guess I've just grown accustomed to it. Changing the fluid isn't going to fix anything (unless the level was low).

Some have actually removed the valve, drilled out the ball and reinstalled. I have not actually had mine apart (yet) but I would assume it does add some restriction to flow.

It is always going to drain back some, whether you notice it or not. I don't think it would be a bad habit to give it a few seconds in neutral every morning before engaging R or D so everything can get slicked and pressured up. Maybe one of our technical wizards will enlighten us with a few words about the "whys and wherefores."

Its fixable if it is too annoying. I used to have an old chrysler that did the same thing. Trans shop fixed it. I dont remember what they did, but not too expensive.
