I have a issue with my 93 5.9 L dodge diesel Cummings . I have gutted the FSS and it run fine for about six months then one day it would not start had to be towed back, replaced the lift pump bled it all and it started, then it died a couple of months later replaced the LP again which was still under warranty and in doing that notice that the gutted FSS had started to leak fuel from the top so bought a new one and replaced it without putting in the plunger BUT in the process of cleaning out the hole etc noticed several pieces of flat metal about 1/8 to /4 inch wide which is not good at all..but it started right away once replaced but then would not start without a shot of ether..bled the lines etc and it seems to have a hesitation and it would not do over 50 it seemed at times then all of a sudden it would do the normal 65-70...so I took out the fuel Gage pump out of the tank and the second filter was half full of crud so I figured it would run great now that it was getting fuel...went to work 45 miles away and on the way back stopped just as I was getting off the freeway 1 mile from home...redid all the bleeding etc etc and got it working...drove 2 miles at top speed and as I am turning around in the dirt road it dies as I am blocking half the road and would not start...towed again 1 mile...I read somewhere that if there is metal in the FSS hole it's time for a new Injection Pump..COULD it be anything else...ANY help is very welcome as it is my daily driver and I live 25 miles from anywhere in AZ :)
