Surprised and excited to learn of the forum changes. Was never crazy for the last version, but I was used to it. So far I like, it looks good and navigates well.

I like the crisp, clean look. A little tweaking and it will be very good. Now if we can opt out of all the crap it will be a great improvement.

Tapatalk will be reinstalled once we have all the articles and magazines back online, we want to have all the permissions settings verified with those first. That should be done today, fingers crossed.

I first did this conversion on a test server and wrote down all the tasks I had to manually take care of after the initial import of data. Things like darkening some colors, fixing some pop-ups that have some transparency, increasing a few font sizes, setting up a different default avatar, fixing the social network links at the bottom, etc.

I'm going through the task list and applying those changes to the live install. I was hoping to have it all done on the weekend, but the live server imported much more slowly than my local test server (all day versus a couple of hours). :( I made the decision Saturday to bring the site back up "mostly complete" and work on the remaining tasks rather than leaving the site down for days. I do appreciate your patience!

This software is blazing fast, renders really well on mobile (still have a couple of tweaks left for that) and a bunch of features the old software didn't.

Once the site is back 100% we have some exciting things coming in the very near future:

- Push notifications: if a user elects to turn these on, they will get notifications of replies to their posts, conversations (same as PMs on VBulletin), etc. and they don't even have to be on TDR's site. So long as their browser (Firefox or Chrome) is opened, they'll get a notification on the lower right of the screen. For some, especially on mobile, its a great alternative to (or in addition to) email notifications.

- Revamping the weekly newsletter email.

- Lots of new smileys.

- The ability to find recent unanswered topics.

- Support for embedding videos from a lot more sources other than Youtube. For instance, Vimeo, Fox, CNN, BBC, etc. - about 30 sources.

- Quick thread button from anywhere on the site. Click the button, it asks for which section and then you type in the topic and it creates it in that section.

There's more, but those are a few off the top of my head. :)

While I miss Tapatalk's simplicity, the mobile version of TDR is very nice. My only complaint is the smaller fonts on the phone make it difficult for these old, tired eyes to see. Hopefully I'll get used to it before I go blind! ;)

Overall, it's a major improvement over the old software. I've noticed a few glitches on the desktop but I'll hold off pointing them out until you folks get everything tweaked.

Is it only me and firefox. Every time I click on a post it goes to the last post and I need to scroll up to the beginning.

When I press the home button I get a message about the website undergoing a software upgrade. I have no other choice but to back out of that page.

We need a way to return to the active posts. Many of us use that to see what's going on and what's popular. If we're involved in multiple threads, it makes it real easy to update.
Thanks again.

Is there no longer a "new posts" or similar button?

My iPhonr menu does not look like that...

Moving thru the airport, will post screenshots when I get to my gate...

Alerts on the top/right show you which threads you're active in have new activity. Or the new posts under the forums tab to the right. Or under the home tab...

That screen hasn't been up since Saturday evening, so you're seeing a screen cached by your browser. If you clear your browser cache, exit the browser then run the browser, you should see the live home page.

What is the difference between....TDR Forum Member, Active Member and Paid Subscriber? Also what do the points mean?

Tapatalk has a history of treating their forum partners as something to exploit to their benefit, with little benefit to the forums. Honestly, if it weren't for the number of Tapatalk users here, we'd dump Tapatalk. The plugin will be reinstalled this afternoon but set up to not take new users with it (it will direct them to the web page instead). At some point when there are alternatives available directly from the forum software companies, we're going to switch.

As to mobile browsing and fonts, Xenforo is "responsive" meaning it can auto-adapt the screen, menus, fonts, etc for different screen resolutions. If you can let me know which device you're using with fonts too small, and which screens (threads, thread listing, forum listing, etc), I'll see what I can do.

Member locations no longer show ?. Was always nice to see where someone is located when having certain problems ie: Arizona, Minnesota etc.
