Hello All - I am getting ready to do the 67,000 mile EGR service on my 2012. I have the EGR cleaning parts kit and instructions from Geno's.... looks pretty complete and straight forward. While I have the coolant lines off I am planning to flush and fill the entire coolant system. So my questions to the board are as follows:
1) What coolant do you recommend? OE or something else?
2) What Thermostat (brand and temp) do you recommend? OE or something else?
3) Any other service items to consider at this mileage interval? (I have already changed the crankcase filter).

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and help!

What year truck? When I was at the Cummins plant in 2013 both Cummins and Ram said that the EGR cooler does not need to be service anymore. Why do to less EGR taking place due to the DEF now being used. If it is a 2010 to 2012 than yes you need to service the cooler.

Also fill out your signature so we know what year and model of truck you have. This will help ever body answer your questions.

He plainly states it’s a 2012 in the first sentence.......

Hi Jim - thank you for the info. Yes, my truck is a 2012. I did have a signature - but for some reason it's not showing up. I re-did my signature line.... hopefully it's working now. Again - I appreciate the info.

Also, I've heard that these trucks will get a SERVICE code at 67k miles - I am past that (I'm almost to 68k)..... nothing.... no service code or reminder.
