Time for new tires - Looking for advise/ Testimonials

Going to purchase new tires this week. I'm back and forth between two.

Size: LT265/70/17 10 ply

1st option: I bought the truck used and it came with BF Goodrich Rugged Trial - They have about 4/5 32nd of tread left. They are worn even. I have no clue how many miles are on them. I'm looking at the BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain KO2 A/T. Installed Price: $863.00

2nd option: Toyo Open Country A/T II - Installed Price: $716.00
50K mile warranty. Free 45 day or 500 mile test - return free

Both options are 10 ply.

The Coopers are a little cheaper. The Toyo's are on Amazon for $168. each, Reg. $219. for Prime Members with free shipping. I did check it twice to be sure they were 10 ply.

I don't think you can wrong with either brand.

All you TOYO fans are you getting 100K out of them? I easily did so with the BFG 3rd gen take offs. Michelins I made 120k. This was with my 98 2500 4x4.

OP was choosing between the BFG or Toyo, so Toyo was the suggestion of the two from a few members. Toyo is a very good tire value. I myself have had best success with Michelin too, getting 100k to 120k miles as well.

My new to me ‘15 had Michelin Defenders on it. Lots of tread left. What did a new one come with?

I do off road so infrequently (unpaved improved roads are not off road to me) that I want quiet, good mpg and long life from my tires. Are the Defenders a good choice?

my 2015 3500 came with Firestone Destination AT 285/60/20 E

Put the Toyos in size 285/75/17 on mine, fit good , actually a little narrower than the 70 series I had before, not getting 100k miles but they are not high mileage street tires either, this set looks like it will do better than 70k, 60k on last set and still had 7/32 tread

Do you stop sometimes ,and think just maybe we don't want a street tire on a 4 wheel drive truck, no we don't get 100k out of those Toyo's, I want the traction I get out of the Toyo's.

Well then those 100k street tires are the ones for you , but you will get stuck on wet grass

So you’re telling all of us that you got 100K miles on BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain KO2 A/T’s? I’ll just answer my own question with a no, no you didn’t. Being there’s no such tire, I’m guessing the OP meant to say All Terrain KO2 as there is no Rugged Terrain KO2. The pavement princess tires you’re referring to are not the same tire as the OP is asking about. I guess I must have missed the third Michelin option in the original post too.

Michelin Defenders on my truck, the factory Firestone Trans Force were awful - worn out at 17,000 miles, lousy in the snow. I had the Toyos on my last 3500. They were OK without the camper in the truck bed, but the sidewall wasn't as stiff as the Defenders. I travel with a truck camper in the bed, lots of side to side sway with the Toyos. The Defenders are much more stable. If you don't have a truck camper, the Toyos will probably be fine for you.

I have had my Cooper Maxx ST for several months now in the stock size. They are much better than the stock Nexens were. Tread squirm took 500 ish miles to go away. The rears needed 35 psi cold to fully contact the ground where the Nexens needed 65 psi. So far loving the Coopers. #ad

I have never experienced any side sway in any E rated truck tire I have ran, but I'm towing a fifth wheel, and not hauling a camper. I like to hear from other guys hauling a camper with the Toyo's , and see if they are having the issues you had with them. Lot of Toyo's out there hauling campers.

It was a silly question he asked, he's not comparing the same type tire, but I do like your remark, Pavement Princess, that sums it up the best.

As far as the op's choice, I like the Toyo's, but sure would not discount the Coopers.
