This notice applies to your vehicle (VIN: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx).

Dear: (Name) It has been determined that some 2014 and 2015 model year RAM 2500 pickups equipped with a 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel engine may release air pollutants which exceed Federal and/or California Oxides of Nitrogen (NOX) standards.

The problem is... Some 2014 and 2015 model year RAM 2500 pickups may experience degradation of the Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) system. Degradation of the SCR system can cause tailpipe emissions of Oxides of Nitrogen (NOX) to exceed emissions standard. What your dealer will do... The SCR system on your vehicle will be repaired free of charge (parts and labor).

To do this, your dealer will replace the SCR system in your vehicle. The work will take about 1-6 hours to complete, but additional time may be necessary depending on service schedules. What you must do... Simply contact your FCA dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the part for your vehicle. If you need help... If you have questions or concerns which your dealer is unable to resolve, please contact the FCA US Recall Assistance Center at either fcarecalls.com or 1-800-853-1403. California residents… The State of California requires the completion of emission recall repairs prior to vehicle registration renewal. In accordance with 13 CCR § 2117, your dealer will provide you with a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form after the recall service is performed. Be sure to save this form since the California Department of Motor Vehicles may require that you supply it as proof that the recall has been performed.

Please help us update our records by filling out the attached prepaid postcard, if any of the conditions listed on the card apply to you or your vehicle. If you have already experienced this specific condition and have paid to have it repaired, you may visit www.fcarecallreimbursement.com to submit your reimbursement request online or you can mail your original receipts and proof of payment to the following address for reimbursement consideration: FCA Customer Assistance, P.O. Box 21-8004, Auburn Hills, MI 48321-8007, Attention: Recall Reimbursement. Once we receive and verify the required documents, reimbursement will be sent to you within 60 days. If you’ve had previous repairs and/or reimbursement you may still need to have the recall repair performed on your vehicle. In order to ensure your full protection under the emission warranty provisions, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Failure to do so could legally be determined to be a lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle. Further, without this repair, your vehicle may fail a state or local emission inspection test. If you are the lessor and registered owner of the vehicle identified in this action, please forward this letter via first-class mail to the lessee within 10 (ten) days of receipt. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

Mine was done in August of 2017

Confusing for sure. I originally read the ad in HDT (Heavy Duty Trucking) and assumed it was for the bigger bore engines. But what you posted sounds exactly the same as last year's recall.
I've not yet received any new notification from FCA.

Take it to the dealer and have them look up the VIN to see if the recall was performed....

If you bought it used.

Reading before replying would be helpful.

First paragraph implicitly states

I saw that. But still needs to take it in and have them record it with the VIN. Maybe the lack of punctuation (run on sentence) made it ( the meaning of the sentence) confusing?

Maybe reading your article before saying you thought it didn't apply to Ram Trucks would be advisable. See this from the first paragraph of your article"

"mostly heavy-duty Ram pickups, ."

this original S87 recall update was completed on my truck,

Dodge u connect website, has vin numbered ,vehicle health page says "pending recall" in red letters now

All other recalls completed 100% up till last week, water pump everything, new hub bearings too@ 20k miles also

now im wondering if the newly updated catylyst DPF was wrong formulation as stated and also wonder about the health condition of def nozzles and pumps ? under warranty yes.

DEF would crystalize at the injection nozzle, then plugged up, and cause the def liquid and air pumps to overheat and fail too. it would throw a yellow warning code them red pump failure code then derate engine power till more new parts arrived,
we replaced this stuff at least 3 times in a year till they started running out of spare parts,

thousands to fix on a brand new 1.5 million dollar crane with a factory warranty. each time

we had these issues at work many times on a 1300 330 ton crawler crane with SCR Engines from Liebherr cranes , We replaced components many times till the factory built a updated repair kit

Liebherr did send a fix about a year later involved installing a small engine driven air compressor air tank and revised plumbing and pumps and nozzle kit from factory in germany plus new SCR Software update. $$$$$

I would delete all this exhaust stuff and reprogram asap ,truck ran better and better mpg too, but need my new truck warranty for now

Just for clarification, does the UConnect website say that S87 was completed and that there is another SCR/DEF with a recall code (other than S87) that was completed.

My understanding is that if they replaced the catalyst with the S87 recall and they need to do it again...... They would need to give it a new code other than S87 because it is a different recall?

The website should say S87 was completed if it was recorded correctly. And if there is another SCR recall, they need to register a new recall with EPA?

Mine was called S86 because mine was recalled separately from the 2014-2015. Mine is a 2013.

It's confusing because there are conflicting reports on wether or not pickups will be included in this recall, or it is relegated to MD ISB6.7. Admitting I don't know information that has not yet been provided is much different than not being able to comprehend what I'm reading.

Austin what power trains are in those Liebherr? Pretty sure they use engines with European origins? Many euro OEMs have had a tough time meeting the tier IV.
Liebherr makes a nice rig. They definitely set the bar with some of their OS.
We run exclusively Grove/Manitowoc, the new machines with SCR are almost all Cummins engines now a days.
All in all they are very solid on the emissions end. Makes me think Ram the final say in the quality of components used on our trucks .

liebherr cast and branded valve cover inline 6 gonna say it a MANN diesel thats what factory filter boxes said ,could be wrong ran strong tier4 gen 2 i think? we had a gen 1 1300 didnt have issues was a demo that ab bought fully dressed out with options but def nozzle would still crystilyze up too ever so often.

i ended up being the mechanic talking to factory guys on a brand new 1300 had 90 hrs on it bigge crane # 321 the other is 161 it had a aux diesel apu with a second heater and ac compressor so u could run AC or heat without main motor idling and cold weather kit too decked out

i believe #321 had scr issues from 100 hrs out said there were seven of them in the country i was the second crane to get factory update under warranty , 213 main and 66 to 125 foot luffer for AB in Dallas

3 scr pumps and many patches to get out of limp mode and hoisting again big iron i 30 arch bridge

christian was our austrian Liebherr mechanic from houston knows his stuff from liebherr germany, fixed it at the end of job before it shipped out factory update came on a pallet from germany $$$$$

def tank has a heated loop in def tank to prevent freezing but heat degrades def fluid too dumped that many times as weak fluid throws a yellow light code also learned that these systems r problematic without regular maintainace

engine mounted compressor air tank def pumps new injector plumbing etc

I always wondered if these modern emissions rigs would go into limp mode with something on the hook. Should be a way to manually over ride the system if that comes up. With the little black boxes - Grove calls it CraneStar - it would be easy enough to allow a temporary over ride when load sensors detect weight.
Our last fleet pre scr had the DOC/DPF - no DEF - were also very trouble free. The one 9130 had north of 10,000 hrs with nothing beyond routine mtce.
Our primary cranes right now are all RT's, 9150e and a GRT8100. 9150 has 8.3 Cummins with scr, almost 2000 hours and not one emissions related issue yet. We took delivery of the first GRT8100 in the country early last year, 6.7 Cummins/SCR. That is still a relatively low hour machine, only gets used in tight spots where the 9150's won't fit but it's been flawless as well.completely new OS for Grove - controls, LMI, ECOS. Supposedly Grove/Manitowic are standardizing all RT's and crawlers going forward instead of the hodge podge hybrid controls Grove is famous for from one model to the next.

T05 was the SCR replacement on my 2015. I took this recall noted in this post, as a recall of Cummins engines with SCR systems in application beyond RAM trucks. Like a following on to the one they did to the RAM trucks. SnoKing
