Ever since I had the shift interlock recall done every now an then I'll unlock my truck and the dash will be dead and it will not start. If I hit the lock and unlock button on the Key Fob a few times everything will "wake back up". I've also had the radio not turn on. Had it back to the dealer and after a day with them in touch with Factory service Tec dept they say they've seen this before and that I need some communications module. Once I find out what they are replacing I'll pass it along on here. Frustrating to say the least. Just another page in the 2013 saga. Those Fords sitting at the dealer across the street from my Ram dealer are really starting to look nice….

Was this the U79 recall that started this ? I’m skeptical and jaded when it comes to software updates, particularly when everything works perfectly before the “ update “. I need the U79& U29 done and wonder if I can decline the U79?

For some recalls, you just send in the card to say you "Had the recall performed".

But with a flash, I doubt the dealer software will allow them to pick/choose what is loaded into your truck.

After years of flashing 100s of modules have yet to have a problem, Problems develop when updates are done W/O flashing other modules, They all must be updated, here lies the problem Ram will not pay the additional NON-essential flashes, they are the customer responsibility in some cases, The Dealer see this as a future $$$. The best option for the owner is see a snap-shot of the vehicle modules with VIN to prove all is good.
