A shot in the dark? Hve you replaced any bulbs lately? Also if you live in area where salt is a problem, check the wires going into the trailer receptacle at rear bumper. bg
 
I seem to have experienced this a time or two (from memory). Can't recall exact sequence, maybe if you shut truck off and don't remove key, they still work until key is removed and/or door is opened or some such? On my VW, the power windows still work for 10 minutes or so after key is shut off if doors are NOT opened.

Are your turn signals working at ALL times?

they work key off and key removed from ignition.come back to truck 10 minutes later and directional still blinking
 
they keep blinking with ignition switch off and key removed from ignition. they wont stop blinking until you shut directional switch off.

truck is a2000 ram 2500.I'm thinking it might be a issue in the directional switch since the fourway flasher switch is incorporated in the directional switch.
 
Maybe combination flasher as those contacts should be normally open at rest. It appears if they are energized they supply power to the turn signal. Pull fuse 10 to see if they shut off and see what happens then maybe 4. I believe this is the Drivers side of dash. Hopefully it is the same as a 99.
