I specifically asked if there was a flash involved with this recall and was told that 12 and under doesn't require a flash. So I took it in and they did the fix and no flash. I know some were concerned whether or not a flash was required. Hope this helps someone decide one way or the other.

Give me a break! I responded to the OP. Then I made a simple statement as to what the TDR is supposed to be about.

Oh well.

I guess my response to everything should be "GOOGLE IT"

I know GS likes to mess with me and I him.

Oh!!, Don't kid yourself there is more then one thats wants to mess with you

In an heroic effort to stay on track, I'll add my experience. When I took my truck in for the initial inspection, the service writer told me 10-12 trucks do not get a flash. 13+ get a flash. something about the early trucks BCM can't handle the flash. kills them dead.

Thank you!!!

Did you google the T-79 recall. :) I can't imagine ANYONE not knowing about it if they had a truck that is effected by it. No one on this thread was even curious about the recall. The OP was just stating about the flash on certain years, not necessarily about the recall, only what was related to it.

If you have read YOUR recall , IF you were effected, and I think you were ,your year will also get a " Body Control Module (BCM) software update, at least that is what is stated on MY recall, for MY 2014.

I believe this a big reason why you caught a little bit of flak over it, this recall is well known , its been on the forums for quite some time. Big reason no one even asked about it, its just old news at this point.

Seeing that you were so concerned for everyone, and didn't want them to google , here it is what T-79 is, they will inspect and if necessary replace the Shift Interlock ( BTSI ) locking pin on your vehicle . Apparently the transmission can be shifted out of park without the key in the ignition or a depression of the brake pedal.

My Son has a whole pile of recalls on his 15 3500 Limited that need to be done. What Dealer in the DFW Texas area that has the best Service department?
