Yep I hit 1 of 10 million pot holes on I-40, and heard my center cap fly off, and at the same time that TPMS sensor also went TU. Pulling at 70 MPH in a major rain squall near OKC last week during those big storms. To top it off I was behind a SEMI in Knoxville Tn, and from underneath the back of his truck came one of those BIG Flat semi truck aero hubcaps rolling at 70+ mph right for the front of my truck. I aint having a good trip so far. I ran over it with my right front. Cant find any damage so far, I reckon I lucked out.
Back to my lost Longhorn edition cap, I need a new one, but $141.00 from Amazon is the best deal so far, but not sure I want to put another one on if its just going to fly off again. I have heard putting locktight on the caps might help, but I doubt it. Are there any other ideas out there? Maybe a center cap that's fits in the hub. To make a long story endless, my fuel mileage sucked this trip also. I was only getting 225 miles per tank. My load was only 10,500 lbs. That really sucked. Headwinds I guess. Before the trip I changed both fuel filters, and checked the Air filter. Tire pressures were 80 in front and 45 in the rear, same as I always run loaded.

Fill two only two of the lug nut holes on the back of the center cap with Silicone caulk. Works well the $141 sure beats the price I have given for them.

Silicone sounds like a good idea. Now I just have to wrap my head around the price of the cap. The after market ones are $54.00, but I have read somewhere that they don't fit as tight to the lug nuts as the stockers do.
Thanks for the ideas, I'll give it a try.

You did not read the fact I had three replaced under warranty? Did you give it a try???

It wasn’t even the dealer I bought the truck from.

Don't know where you live but north Dallas CraigsList has 3 of these for 25.00 ea. you can buy 1 or all 3, These are for a 2500 if thats what you have

I have a 2015 Longhorn 3500 DRW 4x4 MC, I guess my signature doesn't show my truck info when I respond with my phone.
Doubt the 2500's would fit, but thanks for the info. I'm experimenting with silicone on the rear caps to see how well it works ( as suggested), and they seem pretty solid.

Isn't that a bit much? Insurance maybe, warranty no. How do you know they weren't stolen?

They replaced them under my warranty. I had a witness to one of them flying off and the other was there before a short trip and noticed it gone so no chance of being stolen. The third one I went to the dealer for recall work and I was going to mention the first two and had the service guy come look. As I started to show him I noticed the third one had come off between home and the dealer. I guess the look on my face was enough for him to talk to his manager and they ordered three new caps at ZERO cost to me.

As I said this was not my purchasing dealer just where I had some recalls done.

Here ya go, believe me now?

Well if they dont hold on the Hub under normal road and driving conditions then to me it is sure a warranty case.
Wrong Engineering and they know it.

Longhorn, cheap plastic crap.

I never would have thought about a warranty claim. Good for you. Just the cost of replacement caps is worth trying for warranty replacement. I know if I went to my dealership I'd get the blank WTF stare from the goofball service advisor. Of course I'm at 82k on the miles, so I don't I would stand a chance in Hell.

Or if they won't do it under warranty just buy 2 Standard Caps for one side of the Truck.
Replace the other side if you lost another two caps.
The standard Caps never come off without tools, good quality.

Checked ebay and there are sets of 4 available for an okay price, dont be fooled by Chinese crap copied caps, watch for OEM.

I didn't doubt you, my point was a frivolous warrantee claim.

NOT really as they have had lot's of fall off. If this had not been a problem they would have just said too bad.

But hey if you feel the need to pay out of pocket for something they will cover that's up to you.

Print out what I posted.

NOT giving personal info but the invoice number is 559917 at Crystal Chrysler in Cathedral city, CA if you want to file a "frivolous warrantee claim"

I have anger management problems the minute I have to enter the service department. I worked for a Dodge dealership, and did mostly Dodge pickup warranty work, so to have to listen to the BS that comes out of the mouths of service advisors, I cringe at the thought. I've had to school technicians on many occasions about these trucks. It amazes me at how little some, not all technicians and definitely service advisors don't know.
Just recently I told them that i thought the pan gasket was leaking and dripping oil,on the garage floor. The technician told me it was from my poor oil changing procedure. That I had let the oil drain over the engine area. I had to laugh, because I haven't to this day ever spilled oil,all over my engine, and if I did I would have cleaned it up. Made them go back and check again, only to find out the timing gear cover was leaking. Jeez! Really...
So I reckon I won't step foot in the dealership to argue about hubcaps.
Don't get me wrong cummins12v98, im glad it worked out for you. You obviously have a better demeaner about you than I will ever have. I decided to buy some aftermarket center caps, and will silicone those bad boys on good.
The ratted out no cap Semi truck ugly lug nut look is starting to grow on me. Hahaha.
