Red, do you have any Amadillo's? Years ago when my son was stationed in Alabama (FT. Rucker) I visited him and we hiked the base for 3 days looking for some. I wanted to see a real live one, lol. The timber is so dense that you can't hardly walk in it, we had to mostly walk the roads. Never did see one, I guess they are night time animals. Now spiders, yes! We had to carry a 6 ft. stick and hold it out in front of us as we walked to keep from walking into the suckers, another reason we walked the roads.

Yes, they are thick here. we didn't use to have any then years ago you would see one and every year they got thicker. I killed one the other day that my dog had cornered. They must breed like rabbits cause they are thick.

I had the carb version 460 ci on my '86 F-250. Warped the intake manifold, terrible brakes and that TTB front axle wandered all over the place. Lousy truck.
Haven't had any trouble with the front end but the gauges inside have never worked right. I took it back when it was new and they did something to them. ended up taking it back three times and they never did fix it. none of them work now. The rear tank don't work. the sending unit that switches tanks went out a long time ago. The springs are really weak for a 3/4 ton truck. I had to put helper springs on it years ago. also it eats rear oil seals like candy. I have to replace them about every two years.

Is the GVWR on your F250 8600#? I had an '85 Chevy K20 years ago that was rated at 8600 if I remember correctly. Thing road like a buckboard wagon empty. A couple of friends had similar linage Fords and they seemed to ride better if I recall correctly. I'm assuming it was the spring rate difference.

My '87 had reverse arch springs in the front. They claimed that was for ride improvement. They also sagged out pretty quickly carrying that boat anchor 6.9 around.

I really don't know what it has, I had to put helper springs on front and rear. it wouldn't haul much.

That's what mine has and yeah, they sag out easy.

Big Trees are not uncommon is south Arkansas. This water oak was behind our cabin and had been slowly dying for about 5 years, this past summer it was taken down. Per the ring count it was 102 years old. I did get this winters fire wood, but it was truly amazing how the heart rot had traveled up the big limbs. Some were 2 feet plus in diameter. It was 5' at the base.

Petrified wood is pretty common in my part of the world too. It does make fine fire wood. Hard to split and light off but will burn for days if you ever get it to light. :)
