What is the best solution to get the hood liner up off the valve cover? Also the insulation on lower part of firewall is hanging down. bg

First thing to do is simply remove the hood liner. More then likely you will fans that you have rodents of some sort living underneath and it is their weight and waste that is pushing it down. At least that was what happened to mine when I removed it 5 years ago. I have never replaced it and cannot see or hear any differences with the hood liner gone.

All that being said, the firewall liner is much more important in keeping the sound of the mighty Cummins engine out of the cab so if your needs to be removed due to rodents or age it would be best to replace it with a noise blocker. Despite its claim to fame, dynamat only slightly reduces panel refinance and does NOT block soundwAves. Their are other fire proof sound blockers used to line engine compartments in the marine industry that will be more effective then simply using dynamat .
