Happy New Year,
I have a 2012 dually, deleted and the engine has a knock. It looks like the block is cracked also.
So, here a question I hope someone can answer. Can a 2014 engine be installed with out much
of a problem? Planning on using the 2012 computer and deleting the 2014.
Thanks,
Doc

The 2012 has an oxygen sensor. The 2014 doesn't.

I think you will need to move alot more parts from the 2012 to the 2014 than you may realize at this point?

Reading comprehension deficiency again?

Does deleting make the 2012 computer not look for the O2 sensor?

If so, i retract my previous comment. Because using the same ECM and PCM, means it still communicates with the transmission the same as well?

Deleting emissions components means the engine and ECM is no longer concerned about emissions components. This includes the O2 sensor, NOX sensor, EGR %, dpf delta, etc. etc. etc.

Yes, all the after treatment stuff is shut off, ox sensors, EGR, etc. Have to use the ECM from the platform and turn of all the unneeded stuff so it will communicate correctly with trans and other parts of the truck.

Nope, either one should work as all the emissions specific stuff will be gone or disabled. However, best to treat the engine swap like a long block with just the oil pay staying on unless there are differences. I would pull the pan and reseal it anyway along with crank seals so even the pan is optional. You really want to stay with sensors and attachments from the target platform as there could be small differences.

When i said you might need to move parts from the 2012 to the 2014, i was thinking sensors (but not being clear about what i meant) like temp sensors, crank position sensor, and a variety of other sensors that the 2012 computer might not recognize?
