What do you do with the spare?

Like the title says: where do you put it?
With a 4” exhaust and a 285/75 R16 tire, it’s too tight in the OE location. I’m hauling a truck camper, so the bed’s out.

Just carry a 245 spare?
Hang it on the front bumper like my Daddy did with his ‘68 F250 back in the 70’s when he had a slide-in?

I have 285's but the spare is a factory 265. It fits just fine with my 4" exhaust but I had to strap the spare to fit as far back as possible to clear the Mag-Hytec.
I dont want to replace the spare with a 285 so I figured that if I have a front flat while on the road then I'll just put on the spare. But if I have a flat on the rear while on the road then I'll have to swap a front tire to the rear and put the spare on the front.

Thanks for the ideas. I think the idea of just carrying a small spare and facing a potential double-change is probably where I’ll land.

I DO have a ridiculously huge picnic table of a front bumper that could mount two spares easily...

This what I did for years, it works. Now, I also carry a 285 spare in the bed. I stated this after I had some real bad luck with tires 800 miles form home. As luck would have it, I was hauling my sled pull truck so I used one off it to get to town. I would not carry one on the front bumper.

You should be able to slide your spare tire all of the way to the driver side of the truck and back to the rear tire.

Although I have a third gen truck this trick should work on your truck too. I am using a 5" TBE on my truck with a 6" tip with the Mag-Hytec differential cover.

I've been running 305/70/16's since 03 and 4" exhaust the spare (305/70/16) fits between the rails (stock location). It is tight and only about 1/4" from tail pipe.
