house battery will not charge when truck running lights are on

Well after the medical nightmare and Lupron shots (Man Killer) my brain told me it is time to wax the Drivers side before the oxidation gets to bad. So it's been about 16 Months since I waxed it. I have been using some very good No Rinse Wash and Wax products to help the longevity of the base LSP but they can only do so much and most spray waxes or waxes added to wash products only good for around 2 weeks. So I do some testing with Collinite 885 (A pure wax) and the 4" applicator. At first it looks pretty good with the applicator gummed up with oxidation. Went out at sunset and noticed in that light I had a smeared mess of wax and oxidation. Next plan brings out the rotary, wool compounding pad and Collinite 870 cleaner wax. Total 5ver fiberglass is 920ish square feet but it seems to get bigger every year. I have been waxing this beast for 17 years now and I am not in my 40's.50's anymore so you get the idea. I am working on the drivers side which is approx. 320 square feet. The 870 and rotary cleaned it up very well and now have a nice shiny surface to apply the 885 which will last at least 1 year where any AIO like the 870 is 3 Months tops. I am down to having the 16' slide to do then the 870 part is done and the DA, wax pad and 885 get applied. Now I use to do this whole thing in 2-3 days tops and work 8-10hr days doing it. This LITTLE 320sq. ft. so far has taken me 8hrs and 2 days and I am not past the 870 part yet. Wish I could find a 55 gallon drum of energy/stamina to tap into. Luckily the 885 part should go very well as I am only applying wax to a clean surface.

Meguiars Mirror # 50 Awesome when used with good pads and Porter Cable random orbital use it on the Motor home & the Sons T trailer.

I tried many meguiars products along with many other products over 17 years and Collinite came out on top in Az. I have seen many posts on meguiars being used but they did not work for me.

Dave,
You're doing well for your recovery. Keep at it and don't let the time it is taking eat at you. You're fresh off the "roasted walnut" rotisserie. Give it a couple weeks and you should notice a significant improvement in your energy/stamina level.

I know what you mean, Dave. There are many times I stop and think how I used to do something in no time flat, and now it's a drawn out deal. Just goes with the territory, I guess.

While down at South Padre Island TX, 3 guys hand washed and waxed our Mobile Suites and treated the roof for $143. They used Mguires and had wool buffers. I'm now spoiled. They didn't speak much English, but did a fantastic job.

That is exceptionally cheap. More than one body definately makes a big difference. Just finished the slide, it is 16' long approx. 7' tall. It literally took hours with the obstacles and the blue still bleeding out of the decals after 17 years. I am taking tomorrow off for R&R, I definately need it. Maybe Saturday I will break out the DA, wax pad and 885 to get the final LSP on.

yep Dave, it seems to rain every time we take ours out, which means we have to wash it before parking it in the shop. I like hand waxing it every 6 months. My wife and I do a 1/4 at a time... the front extra effort with bugs and whatnot. Helps brush up the karate; wax on wax off.

cheers, Ron

Ron, I have the washing pretty much as easy as it can be without someone else doing it. The usual is a no-rinse with wax, a Boars hair brush with a painters pole and a cheapie RV brush. I wash with the Boars hair then drape a drying micro fiber over the cheapie for drying. All of this eliminates the up/down dance with a ladder. I usually soak the Boars hair 15 to 30 minutes before hand so it is nice and soft. Haven't ever found a way around the ladder when waxing tho.

we don't use ladders washing either. I have a nice HD soft brush and fiberglass ext setup I purchased at a truck stop about 20 years ago. To reduce spotting, I have two whole house water filters 10 micron then 5 micron and use Turtle wax car wash liquid. If washing in the morning, shadow from the shop keeps the sun off it. Then we back it in and if time for waxing, wax it over the next few days.

Good luck on your recovery, I have several friends who survived stage 4 of different cancers.

Cheers, Ron

I wish I could find someone local that would do our trailer. I wouldn't question the price either. I just hate doing the job that much.

These guys are honest hard workers.... took 'em three hours and the RV never looked better. Might be worth the 5 hour trip there every year to get this done, and of course the area is really nice.

We ran into a heavy thunderstorm coming back to San Antonio and had to wash it the next day. We live down a quarter mile calecha road, so we either have dust or calecha mud.

Just an idea on the waxing I stumbled across online when i was trying to shine up the old camper, call me crazy I use Zep High Traffic floor polish from Lowes on my fiberglass 1997 Bigfoot Truck Camper a few years ago it still looks great, Just one word of caution do it when its dry and has time to dry before the night time dew hits or it will run off the roof, Once its dry though it's good. I used 3-4 coats goes on think like water, more like painting than waxing. No buffing or polishing needed, just clean well before applying.
Cheers,

That was quite the rage a few years ago but I believe it was Red Devil sold at Home Depot. Within a year the posts were coming in asking how to get it off as it was yellowing and peeling. Never heard the conclusion but I will leave the floor wax for floors. About the same time was the bug spray with deet to clean headlights. Only the informed knew it actually softened the headlight material which pretty much destroyed them over time.
