Please help! The emergency brake light and ABS light keep coming on and turn off regularly. A few months ago I Reflashed the ECM Re- did the brakes and replaced a sensor because I was loosing braking power and they would lock up on me. All was good for a month, no lights coming on. Then the emergency brake light and abs started coming on and off all the time. I noticed a decrease in breaking power over the last week.

Also another issue; about 15 times my truck acted like it was in neutral, when it was in drive, (in the first 4 minutes of driving it.) This happend once in reverse when leaving for work. Torque converter? Transmission? Hmm I just dont know. I could really use some help. Your time is appriciated! Thanks so much!

No clue how do i check? Thanks for responding.
I think rear.

4 wheel ABS has sensor wires on the front axle housing which run out to each front wheel hub. They are visible... The rear wheel ABS only has the rear sensor which the 4 wheel ABS has too.

If you do not have 4 wheel ABS and yet you lost all braking power then its not related to the ABS system.

What do you own? Do you do the work yourself on yours?

I have an '01 and I do most all mechanic work myself. Not everyone has the ability or the tools so I understand...

No, they come standard with rear wheel ABS. 4 wheel ABS was an option. And depending on what ABS system you have, the problem could be the hydroboost/accumulator, the hydraulic pump, old nasty power steering fluid, failing master cylinder, collapsing brake lines, etc... So understanding exactly what you were experiencing and what you did will help.

Then you can rule out the ABS system. I'm guessing since the ABS/Brake light is coming on that your master cylinder is bad. What exactly happened? That will help narrow it down.

I experience loss of braking power they would lock up on me when id brake and jerk the truck id let off the brake and have to press it again to come to a full stop.
Replaced the rear differential sensor brakes fluids are good. And reflashed ecm.
