Today my batteries would not start the truck and the voltage was 12.4V. So I need to load test them. They are the original batteries and now are three years old.

I know that I have to disconnect at least one of them in order to test it. The question is do I have to disconnect them both in order to test both?

Seems there is a whole batch of bad batterys out there, so many come in here with 3-4years old trucks that need replacement.

Mine lasted right at 4 years. Bought them from Walmart, I was very surprised to see a "Made in Germany" sticker on them, expected a "made in China" sticker.

Did you measure that voltage with a meter or scanner? Unless FCA has improved the EVIC since 2013 I know you did not get it from there. It would have only showed 12V not 12.4V

Measured with a meter , the EVIC is useless for voltage. They were tested yesterday and are OK. I was surprised that 12.4V was not enough to get through the warming stage and start the engine.

Stop that warming stage, that is useless Nonsens, you drain the battery at every start with 160A for 10 Seconds - for nothing. That preheat cycle is just there for emissions reasons, no more.

This Direct Injected Diesel starts always at the 3 Turn of the Crankshaft, no need for that Glowing.

Sit in, Turn the Key to Start and drive away.

I don't know of any way to skip the warming stage with my push button start.
